Synopsis

Claire wakes up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there. The world around her feels too perfect, too rehearsed—and she keeps seeing herself in places she shouldn’t be.

As she pieces together her past, she discovers Dr. Evelyn Crane, a scientist obsessed with creating the perfect, controllable mind. Claire is just one of many test subjects, reset and rewritten over and over. But something has gone wrong. This time, she won’t forget.

With echoes of her past selves refusing to stay buried—and the original Claire still alive—she must fight back. Because in a world where memories can be erased, the only way to survive is to remember.

The descriptions of the cold air, the smell of decay, and the shifting shadows make the horror feel tangible. Lines like “The walls of her apartment no longer felt like walls. They felt like something fragile. Something that could bend.” are chilling. While these add intensity, they are a bit overdone. Breaking up the rhythm with longer, flowing sentences in between would enhance readability and impact. The moment where the reflection moves and whispers “You’re next” is striking, but it might be even more unsettling if the change in the reflection were more gradual and eerie rather than an immediate scare. Perhaps her reflection starts mirroring her a fraction too late, or moves in a subtly wrong way before speaking. The whispers could be formatted in italics instead of quotation marks to enhance their ghostly, internal feel The missing persons report twist was brilliant! The moment Claire sees her own face in the report is a well-timed revelation that deepens the intrigue. The whispers, the mirror scene, and the reflection moving on its own are classic horror elements that work exceptionally well. The tension builds naturally. It never feels forced or abrupt, making the slow burn of fear even more effective. This has a great potential waiting to see more 😁
