A green fist slammed into him, sending him flying.
Boom!
The sky churned with dark clouds. Lightning snaked through the layers, unleashing deafening roars. Azuma Shoyo stepped out of his dimensional portal and was greeted by this oppressive scene.
Beneath his feet lay countless blood-red skulls. In the distance, a mountain of bones loomed, crowned by a Wolverine nailed to a bright yellow X-shaped wooden frame, groaning in agony.
"Whoops, wrong turn!" Deadpool, who'd arrived first, shook his head at the sight. "No, not your fault—I'm the one who got lost. I'll head out now."
He pulled out his TVA device, clicked it, and opened a door behind him. "Bye-bye!" he said, waving.
The Wolverine on the frame let out a low, furious growl as the rain intensified.
This was a dead world—nothing here for Azuma Shoyo.
"Pretty pitiful," he remarked, glancing at the Wolverine. The guy looked ancient.
But not my problem!
Azuma Shoyo turned, opened a dimensional portal, and left.
Stepping through yet another portal, he found himself in another bar. This time, it wasn't a mini-Wolverine waiting for him.
As soon as he arrived, he saw Deadpool pointing a gun at a Wolverine who was the right size, dressed right, and even had the right hairstyle.
"Hey! Look who I found!" Deadpool called, turning to Azuma Shoyo. "This is the guy—the one I've been looking for! Check him out, so standard!"
"Yeah, his drinking posture's pretty standard too," Azuma Shoyo said.
No sooner had he spoken than the Wolverine—who'd just downed an entire bottle of whiskey—crashed to the floor with a thud.
"…"
"Okay, his drunk collapse is standard too," Deadpool said, spreading his hands.
He bent down to help the big guy up. "Oh, shit! Look what I found!" Deadpool exclaimed.
Azuma Shoyo didn't bother responding. It was just Wolverine's classic costume—nothing to fuss over. He'd known it was there.
"Get me a drink," Azuma Shoyo said, sitting at the bar and addressing the bartender.
The bartender frowned at him. "Kid, this isn't a place for you. Maybe you should go find your mom."
"I'm an adult," Azuma Shoyo countered.
"Oh yeah? Doesn't look like it," the bartender said with a smirk. An adult? You look younger than my fourteen-year-old son!
"I just have a baby face, got it?" Azuma Shoyo pressed.
"Alright, let's see some ID," the bartender said, holding out a hand.
"Here it is," Azuma Shoyo said, pointing at the counter—where nothing was. Yet the bartender acted as if he saw an ID, even picking up the air to inspect it.
"Okay, looks like you're old enough," the bartender said, setting down the imaginary ID. "Man, I've never seen a 21-year-old like you."
"Well, you have now," Azuma Shoyo said with a grin. "Hurry up with that drink."
"So, what'll it be, sir?" the bartender asked.
"That bottle in your hand—pour me a glass," Azuma Shoyo said, pointing.
"Hey! Me too!" Deadpool's face popped up again.
Azuma Shoyo turned to see Deadpool had stripped the drunk Wolverine, revealing the iconic costume underneath.
"Didn't know you were into that," Azuma Shoyo said.
"Trust me, the audience eats it up!" Deadpool replied, winking.
Azuma Shoyo didn't engage—didn't want anyone thinking he was into that too. He grabbed his glass, downed it in one gulp, and tapped the counter for another.
"This stuff's strong—watch you don't get drunk," the bartender warned, pouring him a second.
"Don't worry, I can handle it," Azuma Shoyo said, knocking back the next one.
"Minors can't drink," Deadpool chimed in, holding up a sign and reading it aloud. "Hey! I didn't know they sold booze to kids here!" he said to the bartender.
"He's an adult," the bartender replied, wiping a glass.
"Really?" Deadpool leaned in to scrutinize Azuma Shoyo. Just as Azuma Shoyo was about to shove him, Deadpool backed off with a cheeky grin. "I don't buy it."
"Who cares what you think?" Azuma Shoyo said, snatching Deadpool's glass and downing it.
"Hey! That was mine!" Deadpool yelled.
"It's mine now," Azuma Shoyo said, nodding toward the drunk Wolverine. "Shouldn't you be taking him somewhere?"
"Oh! Almost forgot the mission!" Deadpool smacked his forehead, then hauled the drunk Wolverine up, opened a portal, and started dragging him through. He paused, looking back. "You coming?"
"Nah, I'll have a few drinks and rest," Azuma Shoyo said, waving him off without turning around.
He knew Deadpool was heading to the TVA—a weird place he wasn't keen on visiting yet. After a few drinks, he'd head back to the Void. Deadpool and the drunk Wolverine would end up there soon enough anyway.
"Alright, was gonna introduce you to a friend," Deadpool said.
