Ethan's Reluctant Return to College

Ethan's gaze dropped to the date on his phone.

College starts today.

For a moment, he just stared at the screen, expression unreadable.

Then, he sighed.

He had no choice.

Even if he didn't care about college, even if his future was already set in Eldoria, it wasn't time to abandon his real-life responsibilities just yet.

At the very least, he should go back and see for himself—see how the so-called lambs were being led to the slaughter.

The Walk to College – A Different Perspective

Throwing on a simple hoodie, Ethan left his apartment and walked toward campus.

The streets were bustling with students—some rushing to classes, others chatting excitedly about the new semester. Their conversations were a blur of meaningless gossip, complaints about assignments, and weekend plans.

Ethan tuned most of it out.

These people… they had no idea what was coming.

Evolution 1 was right around the corner.

And yet, here they were—wasting their time on pointless college drama, oblivious to the storm that was about to change their lives forever.

In his previous life, he had been one of them—thinking that grades and internships were the key to success.

Now, he knew better.

The real future wasn't here. It was in Eldoria.

And when Evolution 1 started, these people would be thrown into chaos.

Corporate workers, students, professionals—all of them would flock to the game, hoping to make quick money.

But it wouldn't be the paradise they imagined.

They would be nothing more than sheep, entering a world where real players—the ones who had already sharpened their blades—were waiting to slaughter them for profit.

And Ethan?

He would be one of the wolves.

Entering the Lecture Hall

As he stepped into the college building, the familiar cold atmosphere of academia surrounded him.

The lecture hall was already filling up, students taking their seats while some scrolled mindlessly through their phones. The professor was setting up his laptop, preparing to start the day's lesson.

Ethan found a seat in the back, arms crossed as he watched everything unfold.

Nothing had changed.

The same dull expressions. The same pointless lectures. The same system designed to make them obedient workers, not thinkers.

In his previous life, he had been trapped here, struggling to keep up while balancing his life as a guild member.

Now, he just saw it for what it was—a waste of time.

His phone buzzed.

A message from Veyron in Eldoria:

[Agility Potion production started. Early tests look promising. Will refine further.]

Ethan smirked.

While these students were taking notes on theories that would never help them, he was already building an empire in another world.

The thought amused him.

Maybe he would stick around, just for today.

Not to learn.

But to watch.

To see how many of these lambs were still blind to their fate.

And how many would wake up—too late.

The Professor's Announcement

The classroom was filled with the usual morning chatter, students talking about anything except the upcoming lecture.

Then, the professor walked in.

The room fell silent.

Without any greeting or introduction, the professor pulled up the attendance sheet and scanned the list. Then, in a flat voice, he said:

"Students who failed four or more subjects, stay behind after class."

The moment those words left his mouth, a wave of suppressed laughter spread through the room.

Ethan didn't react.

Neither did the girl sitting a few seats away.

But the other students?

They exchanged amused glances, whispered jokes, and barely held back their grins.

"Four subjects? Damn, they must've done nothing all semester."

"I bet it's the same guys who never show up to class."

"Well, it's not my problem."

Ethan heard all of it, but he didn't care.

Let them laugh.

They had no idea what was coming.

After the Lecture – The 'Failures' Stay Behind

As soon as the lecture ended, students rushed to leave—some casting final smirks at Ethan and the girl before disappearing into the hallway.

Only two people remained seated.

Ethan.

And the girl.

She didn't look bothered at all.

While everyone else had left, she sat calmly, scrolling through her phone as if she had all the time in the world.

Ethan glanced at her.

For someone who had failed four subjects, she wasn't showing any emotion—no frustration, no embarrassment, nothing.

He leaned back in his chair.

Interesting.

Maybe he wasn't the only one who didn't give a damn about this place.

The Unexpected Kick & The Ice Queen

Ethan sat slouched in his chair, arms crossed, watching the others leave the classroom one by one. His failure in four subjects meant he had to stay behind, but he wasn't alone.

Across from him, a girl sat in complete silence, eyes glued to her phone. Unlike him, who was still trying to process the situation, she looked completely unbothered—as if failing subjects was just another Monday.

Ethan gave her a once-over. She had a calm, confident aura, her dark hair falling lazily over her shoulders. Despite the failing grades, she didn't look the least bit anxious. No regret, no panic.

Feeling bored, he smirked and leaned slightly toward her.

"Hey, beauty, did you also fail subjects?"

For the first time, the girl—Kaya—paused. She lifted her gaze from her phone and stared at him.

Ethan met her eyes, expecting either annoyance or amusement. Instead, he got… nothing.

A moment of silence.

Then—

BAM!

Before Ethan could react, Kaya kicked him straight on the ass.

It wasn't a light tap. It was a full-force, well-aimed strike that nearly sent him tumbling off his chair.

"The hell?!" Ethan yelped, grabbing the desk to steady himself.

The few students lingering in the hallway outside snickered before disappearing, leaving behind only the sound of his chair scraping against the floor.

Ethan turned back, half-expecting her to at least crack a smile at his suffering. But no—Kaya was already back to scrolling through her phone as if nothing had happened.

He rubbed his sore backside, deciding that a different approach was necessary.

Clearing his throat, he straightened up and said smoothly, "Madam."

Kaya didn't even glance up. "No more questions."

Ethan sighed.

'Damn, she's a tough one.'

But at least she wasn't boring.
