Chapter 2

I have been with Kael for five years, and Scarlett has been clinging to us like a leech for those same five years.

She always uses the excuse of being his best friend to cause trouble at every opportunity.

Because of this, I've thrown tantrums and cried, but Kael always dismisses me with, "If I wanted something with her, it would have happened long before you came along."

I even agreed when she wanted to be a bridesmaid.

I thought that once we were married, she would finally give up.

But I never imagined she would secretly get a marriage license with Kael.

The very day after I was kidnapped and tortured to the point of miscarriage!

If they're truly in love, I'll step aside and let them be.

As I turned to leave, Scarlett grabbed me:

"You betrayed Kael and you're just going to walk away without even an apology?"

Scarlett's nails dug painfully into my arm, causing me to reflexively pull away.

She used the momentum to deliberately fall to the ground.

"Kael, look at what she did..."

A sharp slap echoed, and my face was struck to the side.

Mrs. Shaw stood before me, fuming, pointing her finger in my face as she berated me:

"You shameless woman, how dare you cause a scene here!""Kael was truly blind before to have fallen for someone as despicable as you!"

"Get on your knees and apologize to my daughter-in-law! Otherwise, you won't be leaving this room today!"

I covered my face, a trickle of blood seeping from the corner of my mouth, but defiantly raised my head, coldly staring at Mrs. Shaw.

"Why should I apologize? What have I done wrong?"

Mrs. Shaw had always disliked me, but treated Scarlett like her own daughter, constantly regretting that Scarlett wasn't her daughter-in-law.

Because of this, both openly and behind the scenes, Mrs. Shaw had pulled countless strings trying to break up Kael and me, but never succeeded.

Now she had finally gotten her wish to see Kael abandon me, and she couldn't be more delighted.

"You dare to be stubborn!"

Mrs. Shaw's face turned ashen with rage, and she raised her hand to strike me again, but Kael stopped her.

"Mom, don't dirty your hands."

Kael ignored me and gently helped Scarlett up:

"Scarlett, are you alright?"

Scarlett leaned into his embrace, tears in her eyes, her voice weak:

"Kael, I'm fine. I just didn't expect her to be so heartless... She's the one who wronged you, yet she still attacked me..."I look at her hypocritical expression, realizing it's no surprise I lost to such a manipulative woman.

"Scarlett, I won't fight you for trash. Congratulations on your years of scheming, you finally got what you wanted with Kael!"

Hearing this, Scarlett's face changes as tears start streaming down her cheeks:

"Kael, look at her, she's still slandering me even now..."

Kael's face darkens. After making sure Scarlett isn't hurt from her fall, he strides over to me.

He grabs my wrist forcefully, his grip so tight it feels like he might crush my bones.

"Faye, that's enough!"

He growls, his eyes blazing with fury:

"Even now, you're still making excuses? Do you think I, Kael, am just some puppet for you to play with?"

I wince in pain but stubbornly refuse to show weakness:

"Don't make excuses for your cheating. You and Scarlett have been sneaking around behind my back, so why bother putting on this sham wedding with me? Who's really being played here?"

The bride's name on display at the wedding venue is mine. The welcome poster displays our wedding photos - mine and Kael's.

If he didn't believe me, he could have confronted me directly.

If he no longer loved me, he could have broken up with me.

But just because the person who saved me was Caelan, he went to extreme lengths to humiliate me.

"Slap!"

Another stinging blow across my face.

Kael's strike was even harder than Mrs. Shaw's. My cheek instantly swelled up, and my ears started ringing.

"Faye, don't you dare act so shameless!"

Kael's voice was as cold as ice:
