Chapter 5

When I stopped the car, I was already immobilized.

Only then did Nolan become somewhat flustered, "Xanthe, don't scare me!"

"Are you pretending on purpose? Do you think this will make me feel sorry for you?"

Scarlett clung to his arm, her voice sickeningly sweet,

"Xanthe is so good at playing the victim. How many times has she fooled you?"

"Nolan, if you let her off easy this time, I'm afraid she won't learn her lesson."

Hearing this, he pondered for a moment, then ordered the servants to lock me in the basement.

"Scarlett is right, you better reflect on your actions in there!"

"Don't think you can throw tantrums just because you're carrying my child."

His eyes were full of warning and indifference, making my heart twist as if it were being shredded.

Rats, attracted by the smell of blood, came to gnaw on my flesh.

I was already numb with pain, powerless to resist.

Like a pile of rotten meat lying in a pool of blood.
