Chapter 25: Richard Morris, My Name

What followed was even more surprising.

"Oh, and by the way. Could you deal with your stuff? It's cluttering up my desk," Anran said, pointing to the letters and gifts piled high on the desk.

"Your stuff!" Had they heard her correctly? This transfer student had just referred to His Highness Morris in such a casual manner! The expressions on everyone's faces shifted rapidly. She must have a death wish.

Hearing Anran's words, Zhang Ning's face turned even paler, and she looked like she was about to faint. She hadn't expected His Highness Morris to come to class today, so she hadn't had time to warn Anran that her desk mate was none other than him. What should she do now?

The only one whose expression remained unchanged was the man himself. He glanced at the letters and gifts filling the drawer, then turned abruptly and pulled the window open, letting in a gust of chilly autumn wind.

Was His Highness Morris planning to throw this clueless woman out the window? Even the teacher's face turned pale, but no one dared to speak in the tense atmosphere. The room was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

His lips, pale and bloodless, parted slightly as he said coldly, "Move aside."

Anran was baffled, as was everyone else in the classroom. But the next moment, he lifted Anran's entire desk.

"What are you doing?" Anran's pupils contracted as she asked, her guard up.

Everyone else in the room was thinking the same thing: His Highness Morris must be furious. Was he going to kill this woman with her own desk? No one had ever seen him resort to violence, but just being under his gaze was enough to make it hard to breathe.

The man's actions were utterly unexpected, and even Anran began to wonder if she had misjudged him. After all, this guy defied all logic.

To everyone's shock, the man carried the desk to the window. With a slight shake of his hands, he dumped the entire contents of the drawer—letters and gifts—out the window. A shower of letters floated down from the sky, scattering across the campus pathways below…

The few faces that had been smirking earlier were now utterly humorless. Their expressions turned grim, as some of the discarded items were their own.

"Now, you can take your things," the man said, placing the desk back in front of Anran.

Anran was clearly taken aback by his earlier actions. It seemed she had misunderstood him. Still, she had never seen anyone handle love letters and gifts like that before. Even if he didn't care for them, most people would dispose of them discreetly, not fling them out the window in full view of everyone! What a strange guy, she thought.

Just as Anran grabbed her bag, the man repeated the same action, emptying his own desk drawer out the window. But having witnessed the first round, Anran was somewhat immune to his antics by now.

Once he was done, the man looked down at Anran and said, "Name."

"Ah, my name's Anran," she replied instinctively.

But the moment the words left her mouth, she regretted it. Why had she answered him? Especially since, after she gave her name, he simply looked indifferent.

To her surprise, the man's thin lips parted. "Richard Morris," he said, "my name."

With that, His Highness Morris, as if nothing had happened, calmly pulled out his chair and sat down with an air of elegance.

The eyes of the girls in the room burned with jealousy. His Highness Morris hadn't told the woman to leave—he had asked for her name, and even told her his own! What an unparalleled honor!

Not just in the academy, but in all of Rosewood, no one had ever received such a privilege. That woman, Anran, should have been thanking him profusely, or at least showing some sign of gratitude. But instead, she just sat there, unmoved.

Richard turned his head toward the window. In a moment no one could see, his eyes narrowed slightly, and his thin lips curved into a faint smile.

Anran…

So, the kitten's name is Anran.
