Preparation and Information 2

Mrs. Milton smiled and hugged Jarsa close before pulling back slightly. "I left 14 years ago and already had a man I wanted to marry, did you think I would wait to long to start trying for a kid?"

"I knew that you left to start a family and I knew for sure you were ready to be a mom, but you know how it is about people who are as strong as us having children. If you don't have the money to buy a pregnancy boost supplement then having a child take an extreme amount of effort and luck."

Jarsa stepped back and looked at Cassie, who had stars in her eyes, before speaking again. "So this is the oreling of Jennifer Milton's. I am looking forward to how you will do in my classes little girl. You have a lot to live up to."

When Gunnar looked back to Cassie, he promptly burst out laughing at the slack jawed and starry eyed look Cassie was giving to Jarsa. "Leave some flies for the rest of us Cas."

Cassie turned and glared at Gunnar before returning her gaze to Jarsa. "I look forward to your archery classes and I hope you give a ranged tactics class as well; but as for your hunter/killer classes, I am afraid that Gunnar here is better at close range stalking and throat cutting. we both are good at basic combat, but where I have an edge in tactics and directing battles, Gunnar is good at the shadow work and the hit em in the face work."

"Don't down play your leading skill Cas, you are a God at making plans and open warfare from everything your mom and my grammas taught us. I just happen to be a little better at the getting in close and hit and run stuff. Its why we make such a good team, we balance each other."

"A shadow king and a queen of light," Kilara spoke as she finished her introduction of her classes to the other students and walked over to the smaller group. "There is not a thing wrong with that. no one can be good at everything, so you must have someone who balances your weaknesses. I forward to what you two end up doing in the war games."

Gunnar studied the new teacher, noting the calluses on her hands and the slight point to her ears. he began to look closer and noticed that her hair, peeking out from the wrap on her head, looked much like the leaves of a weeping willow. This, along with the brown-grey of her skin, lead him to conclude that she was of the fae persuasion, a rarity on Kelton but not the second planet, Sif, was a jungle/ heavily forested planet with a lot of fae and beast people.

"I look forward to being taught forest warfare from a wood fae. If anyone knows the best way to get the trees on our side it is going to be the fae, but I thought most fae shunned the non spirit races like humans and dwarves?"Gunnar's curiosity had peaked and the words had come out of his mouth before he could stop them.

Kilara had a smile slowly spreading across her face as she glanced at Mrs. Milton. "You didn't tell them did you? he noticed within five minutes of meeting us that I was different--"

"And paid closer attention until he figured out what was bothering him just like we taught him." Sheila and Mrs. Milton spoke together, smug smile stretching across their faces.

Gunnar's mother then spoke again directly addressing the two teachers. "We have often heard stories of the three of you but I believe that Jen deliberately doesn't describe your races or much beyond your skills and broad appearance. A test for her child and mine."

Kilara and Jarsa both looked at each other and smiled again, before turning back to the two children. "Are you two in the same barracks? If not then we need to make it so when you get to the advanced course. I would love to see what you two would do with free rein to build your own faction, and I'm sure Jarsa is the same."

"Factions ma'am? I thought that you had to have at least one advanced mark nearly complete before you could establish your own faction? Me and Cassie talked about it but we figured we would have to join someone else's faction first til one or both of us could use our merit to establish a pack."

Jarsa stepped forward and ruffled Gunnar's hair. "Well there are ways around that, one such is a teacher can recommend that you get an exemption, or you could show that you have the interworking of the faction as well as the support both in terms of resources and people to start your "Pack" as you called it, the last is to out preform a lot of your peers here in the basic courses. the first ten in rankings are given a request that they can put forward to the school or specific teachers for special rewards. the more of these criteria you meet the better your chances are with getting the approval of the Factions branch of the school leadership."

"But I'll tell you what," Kilara spoke almost interrupting the end of Jarsa's explanation seeing the mounting pressure on the kids. "if you two put forth some good results in the war games and in our classes and impress us enough, we will sponsor your faction."

Seeing the determined glint of their eyes and Cassie's near worship of the her and her companion, Jarsa felt compelled to add. "And if you show enough effort and talent I might give you a few tutoring session with the bow."

At that promise Cassie nearly fainted at the the thought of spending private time with either one of her idols and Gunnar nearly from laughter at the look on Cassie's face.

Cassie glared at Gunnar and smacked the back of his head before telling the two teachers. "We will do our very best to live up to expectations teachers! You can count on us!"

Gunnar nodded and then asked the teachers about the field and any free time they might be awarded to use the facility for training. he also shared with them the training plan his family and Cassie's had been putting them through for as long as they could remember.

"Well," Kilara said. "If the training and schoolwork are finished with time to spare, for the rest of the allotted time for that subject you are free to do as you wish as long as you are doing things correctly. Finishing the objectives and showing you understand the course work are what most of the teachers care about. as long as you can take care of that you should be fine."

Jarsa shrugged her shoulders, Most of the physical training can be waived after you show that you are fit and aren't just slacking off with the free time you will have. As long as your fitness level doesn't decline then you should be able to get the free time to use as you wish except for Monday's games and Friday's revisions."

After talking to the teachers for a few more minutes the families walked away, determination shining in the eyes of the two students and especially Cassie's as she swore to herself that she wouldn't let them down. but with that they headed for the forges.
