Chapter 22: Behind the Scenes

Chapter 22: Behind the Scenes

I then went back to have dinner with Kakashi sensei and Naruto. I don't know what caused the change, but Kakashi sensei seemed to actively want to spend more time with Naruto.

Maybe this was him trying to be a better sensei?

Naruto didn't seem to mind though, as he actively invited Kakashi sensei to join us for dinner.

And hey, the man was paying most of the time so it was nice to eat with him.

"Right, Shikomu, what do you think about joining the Anbu if you become a Chunin?" He asked.

"I don't know yet, I haven't really thought about what will happen when I become a Chunin." I replied to him honestly.

There was still a long road for me.

I had weeks until the first written exams.

Right after that is the survival test.

Following that, depending on if we follow cannon, is the extra elimination exam.

And then we have a 1 month break before the final selection exams, and when Orochimaru will invade with Jonin level Ninja.

I still don't know how I am going to survive if I am not a Jonin, but I do know that during that 1 month I will need to learn many different jutsu to survive.

Then I will finally get my extra 'bloodline,' and see what will happen from there.

"I see. Well, let me know if you are ever interested in it. Due to how highly Naido-san and Guy-san talk of you, Lord Hokage has kept an eye on you and is interested in your development." He told me with a smile.

[System announcement: A MONUMENTAL event has occurred, causing a massive change in the Elemental Nations]

Dammit it, what the hell was it now?

Can a reincarnated individual not have some ramen with an anime protagonist in peace?!

My eyes widened in shock at the system announcement, but luckily Kakashi wasn't paying attention to me to realise that.

A small toad hopped its way into the shop and it vomited out a scroll before dissipating.

"Stay here. Seems like something troublesome has happened." Kakashi sensei sighed as he flickered away.

Speaking of which, I should probably evolve my body flicker…wait! What the hell is going on?!

I decided to 'sleep' in game, log out and look at the world forums right now, and everything I read just brought me immense shock.

"Oh I am screwed."

(Inside of the meeting hall, with all current clan leaders and the Hokage)

"Is this information reliant, Jiraya?" Asked Danzo with a solemn voice.

What was in front of them was a scroll of information Jiraya was able to collect from his investigations in the village hidden in the mist.

"Yes, it is. Either the Raikage is kept in the dark regarding matters in how his daimyo is expanding, or they have initiated war." Jiraya replied, as he was casually leaning on a wall.

"And according to this the Samurai are waging war against the Land of Earth, while the village hidden in the sand has decided to stay neutral for now." Koharu said as she read the documentation.

"Why have they suddenly decided to act now? It makes no sense." Hiruzen muttered as he looked towards his disciple who brought this information to them.

"There has been a massive movement of rogue shinobi recently at the borders of the village hidden in the mist, and my sources tell me it is a new organization which aims to take down the Mizukage." Jiraya continued to add.

"This still doesn't answer my question. Why now?"

Jiraya stayed silent for a moment, looking at the current crowd, the leaders of Konoha.

"I suspect Orochimaru has a hand in this." He mentioned, instantly getting everyone's attention.

"According to my sources, a vast majority of extinct bloodlines have suddenly emerged throughout the lands. As we already know, we ourselves have one, albeit a low level one. Something that had gone extinct during the warring states Era.

But instead, there are tens, if not hundreds of them now. And there is currently a prisoner inside of the Village Hidden in the Mist, who apparently has a major bloodline related to the leaf."

"Which is?" Naido asked Jiraiya to explain.

The toad sage frowned for a moment before he continued, "The Nara bloodline."

(Author's note: To clarify, 3 things are happening at the same time. Samurais are attacking the village hidden in the stone, potentially abandoning their daimyo. Raikage marching his army towards the village hidden in the leaves, and the Mist having a new organization attacking them due to a mystery figure with the Nara bloodline)

If what I had read in the forums is true, there is going to be a war right now.

Every player in the Samurai faction was currently revealing how they were under orders to standby and prepare for war.

The village hidden in the clouds also prepared their armies, while the Mists players decided to take on their kage.

I still don't understand why all the rogue players banded together to fight the Mizukage. Did they court death?

The players in the village hidden in the sand were as lost as my player base- of the players in the village hidden in the leaves.

All I knew was, instead of the Chunin exams, we would now be deployed to fight against the Raikage.

We might even have to help the Mizukage if they requested it.

And what if the Sand suddenly decided they wanted to hop in the fun?

Well, at least it wasn't a complete ganging up on the Village hidden in the leaves.

Usually, the great villages just decide to attack Konoha since their power grows too quickly.

I am sure at one point we fought all 4 Major villages off at the same time.

But what I am confused about is why the Raikage decided to attack us.

He knows about the caliber of our shinobi and yet is doing this.

Something else is going on there-but it is well above my pay grade.

For now I should recharge and get ready to be deployed.

Hopefully my mission isn't going to be something ridiculous.

"It works!" I heard my brother shout in happiness from the living room.

"What does?" I shouted back.

"I was able to make a machine out of the scraps here that can repurpose used plastic and metals to convert them into something else! Atomic reconfiguration! It works!"

On the surface of the waking world, there were currently 4 people meeting inside of a lavish restaurant.

The city they were in seemed to look like a massive bubble, sheltering them from the entire outside wasteland, which allows them to breathe pure air and not die due to the radiation.

One of the 4 was calmly sipping her tea, waiting for the response of the other 3 players.

She was wearing a white floral dress and her snow white hair was cascading down her shoulders, giving her an ethereal aura.

If Mathew saw her, he would instantly recognise the TechnoQueen.

"So you have a way to get your account back? And in return you will support our factions?" A young teen who was wearing a purple colored kimono asked.

He had jet black hair in a messy fringe haircut and seemed to be extremely interested in the proposition the girl proposed.

"Yes, before I was dead my faction was able to make ties with an organization Known as the Akatsuki and is still in contact with them. In return for securing the 9 Tailed Fox, they will revive me." She replied casually.

"The 9 tails?" Another female sitting at the table stood up in shock.

All 4 of them were the current strongest players in the Elemental Nations, as far as they knew.

They had the most information among all players.

So they knew it was suicide to capture the strongest of all tailed beasts.

The female who just stood up was wearing a bright yellow colored skirt and shirt. She clearly had a bad sense of fashion, since the clothes didn't compliment her pale complexion or blond hair.

"Nadia, how would losing our accounts be worth it for you to get back yours?" She asked.

There was only one person who was calmly listening to the whole conversation and he didn't give any input of his own.

That was because, while he was probably the strongest person at this table, he was still a proxy and only conveyed what his master wished him too,

Yet the woman in the white dress, Nadia, wanted to hear his opinion.

"How about you, Atticus, what do you think?"

Atticus, dressed in a formal suit, looked up from his coffee and furrowed his brows slightly.

"Master already made his standing clear, he himself is unable to help since he took on the S-Rank Personal quest and is busy fulfilling its requirements, but he wishes to provide you his full support."

"Well then, Ronald, Matilda. I assume you will follow along as well." Nadia asked with a calm look on her face.

No one on this table dared to defy 'his' wishes after all. Who knew how crazy he would get if they did.
