She gasped, her eyes snapping open. A single word escaped her lips, filled with shock and uncertainty.
"Who...?"
---
Opening her gray eyes, a powerful cyan energy wave radiated from her body. She instinctively placed her slender hand over her swollen belly, ready to protect her child from any form of harm.
A formless energy scanned the room, probing for any assassins or external threats. After confirming that only she and the guards stationed outside the door were present, she relaxed slightly.
'Ah, my child is safe... But why is the primal source so intense and violent in this room?' she pondered, her gaze lowering to her navel. After analyzing the situation for a moment, she discovered the unique primal source greedily being absorbed into her belly, feeding directly into the area where her unborn child resided.
Curious, she extended her spiritual sense to peer into her own body. What she saw made her gasp in shock. Instead of the human fetus she expected, a glowing egg had taken its place, an egg that bore an uncanny resemblance to an ancient dragon egg. Its surface was adorned with radiant, multi-colored diamond-shaped scales, exuding an aura of profound antiquity.
She tried to look deeper, to pierce through the scales, but to no avail. No matter how hard she tried, the egg remained impenetrable to her gaze. Strangely enough, she did not panic. No, rather, she found herself unable to.
'Why has my baby transformed into an ancient dragon egg? Could Dev or I have some unknown connection to dragons? This must remain a secret. If word gets out, I don't know what those old men will think of my child.'
Just then, something else dawned on her. She turned her focus to her cyan primal core and noticed an unexpected transformation. First, it darkened into a faint red aura. Then, it rapidly intensified into a brilliant crimson, growing at a speed visible to the naked eye. A thought formed in her mind.
'A breakthrough? Without any effort? And it doesn't seem to be slowing down anytime soon. I must contact Dev, he might know something about what's happening here.'
With a determined expression, she tapped her wristwatch several times. It didn't take long before a fierce yet soft voice came through from the other side of the call.
"What's up, my little lovely wife? I'm already on my way to your training room to steal a kiss from those heavenly rosy lips of yours, but I sense an intense primal source aura radiating from there. What are you up to?" His voice carried a mix of amusement and concern.
Although he was worried, he wasn't panicked. After all, who in their right mind would dare to assassinate someone in his dominion? And even if they did, it would be utter foolishness to target his wife, the she-devil herself. The only ones who might even consider such an act would be the other Duke Houses or the royal family, but he doubted they would be reckless enough to make a move against the Abigor Duchy. If they did, there was only one outcome, massacre. Not even the royal family would be spared because when the Abigors retaliated, nothing would be left standing.
"Alright, but be quick. It's important," she replied, her cheeks involuntarily flushing.
Shaking her head to clear her thoughts, she turned her attention back to the glowing red aura spreading throughout the room. She focused her efforts on suppressing the unique primal energy pouring into her belly, watching as it funneled into the multi-colored diamond scales covering the dragon egg. The energy nourished the little being growing inside, while a small fraction of it escaped and flowed into her own primal essence core, empowering her in ways she did not yet understand.
Suddenly, the door burst open. A strikingly handsome middle-aged man, who appeared to be in his early thirties, entered the room, seated in a wheelchair that moved on its own... a testament to modern technology.
At first glance, he seemed like an ordinary mortal, but upon closer inspection, he exuded the presence of an untamed beast disguised in human skin. A terrifying aura lay hidden beneath the deceptively calm exterior he projected to the public.
His head was crowned with navy blue curls, and his thick, sharp black eyebrows framed a pair of fierce red eyes, eyes that seemed to whisper, "Run while you still can." His chiseled features were complemented by a well-defined jawline. He was clad in a simple blue t-shirt and pants, topped with a long white trench coat that added to his air of authority.
With such striking looks, it was no wonder he was ranked among the top ten most handsome men in the entire New Blue Empire.
Upon entering, the first thing that greeted him was the intense, brilliant red aura that engulfed his wife. The energy brushed against his face like a gust of heat.
'Wait... She broke through from the Saint Rank to the Emperor Rank in just the short time I took my eyes off her?' he thought, his eyes narrowing.
'No... something's not right here.'
His gaze was drawn to the unique primal source permeating the room. As he took a deep breath, his expression turned solemn. He recognized it immediately.
"Primal Neutral Source...? How is it even possible for it to be here?" he muttered under his breath.
Few knew of its existence, but someone of his status and authority was well aware of the significance of the Primal Neutral Source.
At that moment, his wife opened her glowing gray eyes and, without hesitation, ran into his arms, settling onto his lap. "Dev, you're here! Please, take a look at our baby," she pleaded.
Ordinary mortals couldn't peer into a pregnant woman's womb, but for cultivators at their level, such a feat was easy, provided the mother allowed it. And, of course, Devlin Abigor was not just anyone. He was her husband, the father of their unborn child, the head of the Abigor Duke House, and a man privy to countless secrets others could only dream of knowing.
Without wasting another second, he sent his will into her belly. What he saw left him utterly stunned, almost making him forget his own surname.
Instead of the expected human child, there was a multi-colored diamond-scaled egg, pulsing with an ancient aura. It bore a striking resemblance to the fabled eggs of ancient dragons, radiating an almost sentient energy, as if it were acknowledging his presence.
He struggled to find the right words, and after a long pause, the only thing he could manage was, "Are you feeling any discomfort anywhere?"
His wife shook her head. "No, but..."
