THE AWAKENING OF DEATH

Chapter 107: The Awakening of Death

A cold wind swept across the ruins of Krevos.

The moment Life unsealed the second monument, the battlefield froze.

Not in ice. Not in fear.

But in stillness.

Kael felt it immediately—an unnatural quiet, as if the world itself was holding its breath.

And then—

A crack.

The stone prison shattered, and from within stepped a figure.

A boy, no older than seventeen, with midnight-black hair that fell over his forehead in tousled waves. His eyes, bright as burning embers, glowed with a red so deep it seemed to pull in the light around him.

He exhaled, a slow breath that carried the weight of eons.

And when he spoke—

His voice was calm, detached, yet strangely soothing.

"I am awake."

A Presence That Stilled the World

Kael felt his heart slow.

Not from fear.

Not from danger.

But because everything—every cell in his body, every drop of mana in the air—had obeyed an unseen command.

This was not suffocating like Chaos.

Not brimming with warmth like Life.

This was acceptance.

The understanding that all things, no matter how strong, must one day come to an end.

Xelthar's Panic

The Xelthar forces, who had stood against Kael and the Vanguard with arrogance, now trembled.

Their commanders, so confident before, stumbled back.

One tried to speak, to call for a retreat—

But the Forsaken of Death merely looked at him.

The commander's entire body locked in place.

His breath stopped.

Not in pain. Not in agony.

Simply… stilled.

Life sighed. "Brother, you're scaring them."

Death blinked once, then sighed as well. "I suppose I am."

He flicked his hand—and the commander gasped for air, falling to his knees.

The moment his lungs filled again, he screamed.

"FALL BACK! NOW!"

The Xelthar forces did not hesitate.

They fled.

Every single one of them.

Even the strongest among them refused to look back.

Life & Death: A Reunion Beyond Time

Life took a slow step forward, staring at the brother she had lost for countless centuries.

"You look…" She hesitated. "The same as before."

Death tilted his head. "And you… are still warm."

Life smiled. "I missed you, you know."

Death closed his eyes for a brief moment. "I know."

A long silence passed between them.

Life then pouted. "You don't look very happy to see me."

Death chuckled, his first true expression. "Happiness was never my nature."

Life crossed her arms. "That's a terrible excuse."

Kael watched the interaction, his grip tightening on his sword.

"Are you two going to explain what's happening?" he finally asked.

Death turned his red gaze toward him, observing Kael as if peering through his very existence.

And then, he spoke.

The Truth of the Forsaken

"The world you know," Death began, "was built on the sacrifice of gods who were meant to rule it."

Lucian frowned. "What do you mean 'meant to rule it'?"

Life sighed. "He means us, dear prince. We weren't always 'Forsaken.' Once, we were—"

"Divine," Death finished.

Mira's eyes widened. "You were gods?"

Death's gaze flickered with something unreadable. "We were balance. We were… necessary."

Selene narrowed her eyes. "But now you're sealed away."

Life sighed. "Yes. Because humanity feared us."

"And because one of us chose destruction." Death's voice darkened.

Kael's breath slowed. "Chaos."

Death nodded. "The one who betrayed us. The one who should never be unsealed."

Life smiled bitterly. "But I suppose our dear Chaos would disagree."

A Dangerous Offer

Life turned toward Kael and the Vanguard, her golden eyes gleaming.

"You freed me, little hero. And now my brother as well."

She stepped closer, her aura as gentle as a spring breeze.

"I owe you a debt."

Kael raised a brow. "A debt?"

Death sighed. "She means she wants to help you. Even though we shouldn't."

Life scoffed. "You sound like Order."

"Because Order is right," Death murmured.

Life ignored him and turned back to Kael.

"You're fighting a war," she said, tilting her head. "Let me and my brother fight it with you."

The Vanguard stilled.

This was more than just help.

This was divine power standing at their side.

Lucian crossed his arms. "And what do you gain from helping us?"

Life grinned. "Simple."

She glanced toward the ruins.

"I want to see Order again."

Death exhaled, rubbing his temple. "This is going to be a disaster."

Kael sighed. "Welcome to my life."

The Future Has Changed

With Life and Death now walking among them, the war with Xelthar was no longer just a battle of soldiers and kingdoms.

It was a fight that would decide the fate of the forsaken gods themselves.

And somewhere, far beyond Eldoria—

Chaos laughed.

Because even now, the pieces were falling into place.

And the world would never be the same.
