Chapter 5: An Offer I Couldn’t Refuse

I shut my door behind me, my body still worn from the morning's events.

Angela. Then Kira.

I ran a hand over my face, exhaling slowly. Two completely different women. One already addicted to me, the other slipping through my fingers before I could even touch her.

And that only made me want her more.

Kira wasn't playing the game like the others. No flirting, no lingering looks just a quiet, unreadable exit. Most women made it easy. She? She made it a challenge.

I grinned to myself.

I'll do anything to get that girl in my bed.

My thoughts spiraled, drifting between Kira and Angela, fantasies intertwining until,

Bzzzt. Bzzzt.

My phone vibrated violently on the table. I barely noticed it until the name flashed across the screen.

Sandra.

I hesitated before picking up. It had been a while since I last heard from her. The past I left behind wasn't one I planned on revisiting, but with Sandra, it was never that simple.

I answered. "What do you want?"

"Hello to you too, Frank," she purred, her voice like silk. "You're alive, I see."

"Barely. What do you want?"

She chuckled. "Straight to business. I like that. Listen, I need to see you. Got a job for you one that could change our lives."

I frowned. "A job?"

"Mhm."

I leaned back against my chair, skeptical. Sandra and 'jobs' didn't mix. Not the kind that involved offices or legal paychecks.

I sighed. "Sandra, if this is"

"Relax," she interrupted. "Meet me. One hour. I'll explain everything."

I hesitated, then gave her the address of a café nearby. Whatever this was, it was important enough for her to call me after all this time.

And that alone was enough to make me curious.

An hour later, I stepped into the café, expecting to wait a few minutes before she arrived.

But there she was.

Already seated. Already waiting.

That alone told me everything I needed to know.

This job was serious.

I walked over to her table, pulling out a chair across from her. Sandra looked the same sharp, confident, with that dangerous smirk that always meant trouble.

"You're late," she said.

I scoffed. "Didn't know we were on a timer."

She waved it off, leaning in. "Listen, I don't have time for small talk. I have something big, huge. But I need you on board."

I raised a brow. "I'm listening."

She took a sip of her coffee before locking eyes with me.

"There's a new mayor in town. Big shot. Power, money, all of it. His wife? Well… she's a saint during the day." Sandra's lips curled into a smirk. "And a sinner at night."

I leaned back. "Where do I come in?"

Sandra tilted her head. "She's heard about you, Frank."

That made me pause.

"She knows about me?"

"Oh, sweetheart," Sandra chuckled, "your reputation travels fast. Apparently, some of our old clients couldn't keep their mouths shut."

I stayed silent, listening.

"She wants you," Sandra continued. "Wants to experience what everyone else has been whispering about."

I frowned. "Her husband is the mayor, Sandra. You think I'm dumb enough to risk that?"

She rolled her eyes. "Don't be dramatic. You won't get caught. The security is light. The husband's always busy meetings, events, barely home. And the wife?" Sandra smirked. "She's willing to pay big for your time."

I exhaled. "How much?"

Sandra's smile widened. She leaned forward, her next words making my heart stop.

"One hundred grand."

Silence.

I stared at her, trying to process the number.

"Did you just say"

"Yes. One hundred thousand."

I ran a hand down my face.

I could do a lot with that kind of money.

But was it worth the risk?

Sandra must have seen the hesitation in my eyes because she leaned in even closer, her voice barely above a whisper.

"Frank, this is a once-in-a-lifetime deal. One month. That's all. And when it's over, you walk away rich."

I clenched my jaw.

I knew I should say no.

I knew the risk was too great.

But then I thought about it.

A hundred grand.

Just for doing what I do best.

I exhaled slowly, meeting Sandra's gaze.

"Where and when?"

Sandra grinned.

"Now you're thinking like a businessman."
