(Andrew POV)
It's been thirty minutes since I met her, the so-called genius from the Celestial Sect. A true beauty, no doubt. Elegant, poised, flawless in the way she moved and spoke. But still, she was no match for me in terms of potential. After all, I am the Crown Prince of the Aurora Kingdom and the chosen wielder of the Harem System. Compared to me, she's just another stepping stone.
Still, I'd be a fool to overlook her value. She'd be a perfect addition to my future harem. The system even confirmed it: high affinity, high fertility rate, and rare elemental physique that extremely matches mine. The rewards for making her mine would be immense—stat boosts, a unique skill, even a bloodline evolution.
But she's no ordinary girl. She's a genius, and geniuses need to be handled with care.
No, I won't rush this. I'll plant the seed first—flirt, tease, draw her curiosity. Then I'll withdraw just enough to make her crave the chase. Eventually, she'll beg for my attention. When the time is right, she'll belong to me. They always do.
I was moving closer toward the middle section of the forest, lazily swatting away D-class beasts like they were flies, when I heard it.
ROARRRR!!!
The sheer force of the roar shook the treetops. Birds scattered, and the ground trembled beneath my feet.
"Shit. That's a King-class," I muttered under my breath, instantly ducking behind a boulder and scanning my surroundings. I couldn't see it yet, but I could feel it. The pressure—it was suffocating.
This isn't good. I'm not strong enough to take on a King-class. Not yet. I need to retreat.
Then I saw it—bursting through the trees like a living nightmare. A massive, obsidian-scaled beast hissing while slithering straight to my direction.
"Damn it! It's coming for me!" I cursed, spinning around and making a beeline toward the inner section of the forest. If I could just make it past the ridge, I might lose it.
Panting and weaving through trees, I pushed my body with everything I had. Muscles screamed. My boots tore through mud. The howls behind me got louder.
Then I saw it.
Another beast. A red-furred King-class gorilla with glowing eyes, roaring at a solitary figure in the distance. The haze of trees made it hard to see who it was, but in that moment… I saw opportunity.
A cold grin curved across my lips.
"Looks like it's your unlucky day," I whispered, slowing down.
I turned and hurled a small explosive talisman toward the beast chasing me, directing its attention to the other figure. The shockwave startled both monsters, and sure enough, the obsidian beast turned its attention to the lone soul standing amidst the trees.
It worked. I was safe.
"I do feel a little bad," I said, placing a hand on my chest in mock sympathy, "but what can I do? It's their honor to die in this prince's stead."
I vanished into the shadows, retreating to safety with a smirk still tugging at my lips.
(Ronald POV)
This is bad. This is really, really bad.
I was breathing hard—too hard. My lungs felt like they were on fire, and my legs were numb from sprinting nonstop. I'd tried to face the beast head-on, but it wasn't just strong. It was beyond anything I could have anticipated.
The King-class rhinobear—massive, plated in mana-enforced armor, with eyes like burning coal—had shrugged off my strongest technique like I was swatting a leaf at a mountain. My dark arts did nothing. Not even the arc-blade made a scratch.
So I did what any rational person would do.
I ran.
"You know what they say," I muttered between gasps, "those who live to fight another day… probably had better armor."
I turned a corner and nearly tripped as I reached a clearing—then froze.
There, standing calmly in the midst of the open terrain, was a man.
Tall. Dressed in black and gold nanosuit armor. A golden staff rested across his shoulders like it weighed nothing. Three King-class beasts slowly surrounded him like predators circling prey.
"Oh... shit," I whispered.
I didn't need a system scan to know who it was.
Xandros Darkhaven.
What was he doing here? Why was he up against two King-class beasts? Is he crazy or overconfident?!!!
(General POV)
Xandros stood at the center of the chaos. The earth around him cracked with every footstep the beasts took. His golden staff glinted under the flicker of scattered sunlight, and the forest felt like it was holding its breath.
The red gorilla roared again, pounding its chest and charging forward. Xandros spun his staff once, planting one foot forward.
"Let's begin."
The gorilla brought both fists down in a double hammer blow that would've turned most steel to dust. But Xandros vanished. He reappeared above, his staff shrunk to the size of a needle.
"[Shrink]," he whispered.
He landed cleanly on the gorilla's back, the needle-thin staff humming with power.
Then—
"[Expand]."
The staff surged in size instantly, growing to the size of a tree trunk, impaling the ground beneath the beast and lifting it off its feet with a thunderous crack. Dirt and stone erupted skyward as the beast was launched into the air like a toy.
The serpent struck next, lunging with venomous fangs.
Xandros flipped backward, mid-air, rotating his staff with one hand. He let it shrink again—this time to dagger length—and used it to parry the incoming strike with precise deflection.
"Predictable," he muttered, stepping on the serpent's snout and launching himself into a spin.
Mid-air, he roared, "[Expand]!"
The staff shot outward again, growing long enough to slam into the serpent's lower body and driving it into the earth. The impact flattened trees in a 20-meter radius. A shockwave rippled through the forest, sending chunks of earth flying in every direction. Birds scattered. Animals fled. The very terrain trembled.
Then came the third.
The rhinobear let out a furious bellow and charged. Its armored skull lowered, it moved like an avalanche—unstoppable, merciless.
Xandros met the charge head-on.
Instead of dodging, he leapt forward, staff once more compressed into a short baton. He spun through the air like a dancer, momentum flowing through every muscle. At the last second, he drove the end of the staff into the ground and let out a single word.
"Expand."
The staff exploded skyward, lifting him above the rhino's path. He descended like a falling god, staff once more in hand, and slammed it down with a spinning overhead strike that cracked the earth and cratered the landscape beneath the beast's hooves.
The impact triggered a localized quake. Trees split at the trunk. Stone ruptured. A nearby hill collapsed in on itself.
Jason, watching from behind a particularly thick tree trunk, choked on the protein bar he was halfway through.
"This guy's fighting like he's allergic to gravity!"
Ronald, still breathless from his own escape, could only whisper in awe, "Is he even human?"
Xandros landed in the center of the destruction, his staff slung casually across his shoulders once again. Dust and smoke whirled around him, obscuring everything but the faint glow of his golden eyes.
"I'm just getting started."
To be continued.
