Chapter 32: A Reckless Decision

Olivia didn't stop to think.

She grabbed her coat, her heart pounding as she rushed out the door.

The city lights blurred past as she hailed a cab, barely registering the driver's words as she gave Adrian's address.

This was reckless. Maybe even stupid.

But she needed to see him.

To hear the truth from him, not the media.

The ride felt endless, her pulse racing faster with every passing block.

When the cab finally pulled up to Adrian's penthouse, she barely waited for it to stop before she stepped out.

Her hands shook as she rang the buzzer.

Silence.

She pressed it again.

A long pause. Then—

"Who is it?" His voice, cool and unreadable, crackled through the intercom.

She swallowed hard. "It's me."

A beat of silence. Then the door unlocked.

Taking a deep breath, she stepped inside and made her way up to his apartment.

When the door swung open, Adrian stood there, leaning against the frame.

His expression was unreadable. But his eyes—those piercing blue eyes—held something she couldn't quite decipher.

"Olivia." His voice was steady, but there was an edge to it. "Didn't expect to see you here."

She stepped inside, her heart hammering. "I saw the article."

A flicker of something—irritation? Amusement?—crossed his face. "And?"

"And I need to know if it's true."

He exhaled, shutting the door behind her. "You walked away, Olivia. Now you care?"

Guilt twisted inside her. "I never walked away. I just—"

"Took your time." His lips pressed into a thin line. "And now that you think I've moved on, suddenly you're here?"

The words stung because they held a sliver of truth.

She had waited. Had doubted.

And now, she might be too late.

She forced herself to meet his gaze. "Just tell me—are you with her?"

Adrian studied her for a long moment before shaking his head.

"No." His voice was quiet but firm. "But that doesn't mean I'll wait forever."

Her breath caught.

Because this was it.

She had come here searching for answers.

But now, she had to ask herself—was she finally ready to make a choice?
