Chapter: The Overwhelming Enthusiasm of Baby Girls
I had anticipated many things in my new life.
Battles for supremacy, political schemes, securing the protagonist's allies before he could—all of that was expected.
But what I had not expected…
Was being ambushed by a horde of baby girls in my own crib.
Help.
The moment my aunts left me alone with them, my two so-called "cousins" locked onto me like predators spotting their favorite toy.
The moment their eyes fell on me ,their bright, sparkling eyes widened, their tiny hands trembling in excitement, and before I could even blink—
They pounced.
Or, well, as much as babies could pounce.
Which meant an uncoordinated, wobbly crawl toward me, but in my current helpless baby form, it might as well have been a stampede.
"Ah!"
The first one to reach me was Celestia Solis, Uncle Alexander and Aunt Sylvia's daughter. Golden curls, bright blue eyes, and one of the fan favorites in the novel. She let out a happy squeal before grabbing my cheeks with both hands and squishing them.
"Kyuuu!" she babbled, her tiny fingers patting my face as if she was checking if I was real.
The second was Liliana Noctis, Uncle Asmodeus and Aunt Lilith's daughter and also one of the protagnaist's love intrest in the novel.Dark silky hair, crimson eyes, and a surprisingly quiet presence. She didn't squeal, but she giggled softly as she grabbed my chubby hand and shook it like she was making a deal.
They were both baby versions of future heroines, girls who, in the novel, had tragic endings after being entangled in the protagonist's mess.
("Tch. Like hell I'll let that happen.")
But before I could think about saving them from their doomed fates, they attacked again.
Tiny fingers poking my cheeks.
Little hands tugging at my soft baby hair.
One of them even tried to nom on my arm like I was a snack!
Have some dignity!
I sent a helpless look toward my mother and aunts, but they were—
Laughing.
Betrayal!
Sylvia wiped away tears of laughter. "Oh, Celestia, Liliana, you both are so adorable! Look at how much you love your little brother already!"
Lilith, despite her usual cold demeanor, had a faint amused look in her crimson eyes. "At least they have good taste."
Mother smirked at them both. "Oh, and speaking of enthusiastic baby girls—when I was on a call with Elaris earlier, Evelyn reacted the same way when she saw Adrian's face on the holograph."
Sylvia blinked. "Wait, you mean—"
"Yeah Elaris's daughter," Mother confirmed with a smile. "She tried to reach through the screen to grab him."
Lilith raised an eyebrow. "….I don't know why but for some reason that doesn't surpise me ."
Sylvia groaned dramatically. "Great, now even the Elves are after my baby boy!"
Lilith shrugged. "You should have seen this coming."
I stopped struggling for a second.
("Wait… Evelyn's coming as well and eho do I have a bad feeling about this ?"), I
Evelyn Moonshade. The Elven Princess, another future heroine from the novel—one of the most devoted girls to the protagonist and one who was just yesterday trying to touch me through the holo screen.
("…Or at least, she was.")
A slow, devious grin formed in my mind.
This was going even better than I planned.
