Luca didn't hear the gunfire anymore. Didn't feel the heat of the chaos around him.
All he saw was her.
Elena lay crumpled on the marble floor, blood blooming across her side like a cruel stain. Her breath was shallow, her fingers trembling as she tried to press against the wound.
"Elena!"
He moved without thinking, dropping to his knees beside her. His hands covered hers, desperate, shaking. "Stay with me, baby. Stay with me."
Her lips parted, but no sound came out. Her skin was turning cold.
Luca's chest tightened, fury and fear tangling into something lethal.
Above them, Valerio sighed, wiping a smudge of blood from his cuff. "You should've walked away."
Luca looked up, his vision turning red.
Valerio smirked. "Now you lose everything."
Wrong.
Valerio was about to lose everything.

The Breaking Point
Dante's voice crackled in his earpiece. "Luca, what's happening?"
Luca didn't answer.
He lifted Elena into his arms, her weight too light, too fragile. He had to get her out. Now.
He turned toward the door—
A gun cocked behind him.
"You're not going anywhere," Valerio murmured.
Luca slowly looked over his shoulder. His grip on Elena tightened. "Put the gun down."
Valerio chuckled. "Not this time."
Luca's heart pounded. He could feel Elena's breath weakening against his chest. He couldn't wait.
He had to end this.
His fingers brushed against his knife, concealed at his waist.
Then—
He moved.
In a flash, he turned, launching the blade. It sliced through the air, burying itself deep in Valerio's shoulder.
Valerio cursed, staggering back. His gun fired—
But Luca was already moving, lunging.
The two men crashed to the floor, knocking over a table, glass shattering around them. Luca didn't care. His fists rained down on Valerio, years of rage and hatred pouring into every hit.
"You think you can take her from me?" Punch.
"You think I'll ever let you win?" Punch.
Valerio choked on blood, laughing through the pain. "She's already gone."
Luca saw red.
But before he could strike the final blow—
"Elena."
Dante's voice.
Luca froze, his breath ragged.
He turned—
And his entire world shattered.
Elena lay limp, her face pale, her lips parted—
Unmoving.
