Luca sat in his car outside the abandoned train station, gripping the key Mira had slipped him. The cold metal burned against his palm like a silent warning.
It had been hours since their last encounter, but his ribs still ached from Victor's men. He should've walked away. But that was never an option.
Not when it came to her.
The station loomed ahead, a forgotten relic swallowed by time. Shadows stretched across the crumbling tracks, the flickering streetlights casting eerie shapes.
Midnight.
Mira was late.
Or worse—she wasn't coming at all.

A Dangerous Reunion
A faint scuff of shoes against pavement snapped Luca into action. He turned, his instincts sharp, body tense—ready.
Mira emerged from the darkness, her hood drawn low over her face.
Alone.
Luca exhaled. "You're late."
Mira's eyes flicked to his bruised jaw. "You're bleeding."
Luca smirked. "Comes with the territory."
For a moment, silence stretched between them. A heavy silence. One laced with a thousand unsaid words.
Finally, Mira moved closer. "Do you still have the key?"
Luca pulled it from his pocket, holding it between them. "What does it open, Mira?"
She hesitated, then reached for his hand, curling his fingers over the key. "A way out."
Luca studied her, catching the flicker of fear she tried to hide. "For you?"
Mira swallowed. "For both of us."
—
A Plan or a Trap?
Mira led him to a rusted locker at the back of the station. She slid the key into the lock, and with a quiet click, the door swung open.
Inside was a bag stuffed with cash, passports, and a gun.
Luca's stomach tightened. "You were planning to run."
Mira nodded. "I was waiting for the right moment."
Luca exhaled sharply. "And Victor?"
Mira's hands clenched at her sides. "He won't let me leave. Not alive."
Luca grabbed the bag, shoving it into his jacket. "Then we make sure he doesn't have a choice."
Mira hesitated. "Luca… if you do this, there's no going back."
Luca stepped closer, his voice low, certain. "I was never going back anyway."
Her breath hitched as his fingers brushed her cheek, lingering. "Mira, do you trust me?"
She looked at him, something breaking in her gaze. "With my life."
Luca's grip tightened around the bag.
Then they were running.
