In a city of steam and secrets, orphaned street rat Silas Ashborn is taken in by a mysterious noble family. Just as he begins to find a place among them, whispers of dark conspiracies and hidden agendas pull him into a web of lies. As he uncovers unsettling truths, Silas must navigate a world where trust is scarce, and betrayal lurks in every shadow. The closer he gets to the truth, the more he realizes that some secrets are better left buried.
This novel is so underrated. It’s only eight chapters in, but everything is clean and well thought out. A lot of novels lose their charm early on because they focus too much on world building and neglect other parts of the story, but this one balances things really well. In just eight chapters, the world-building is already solid, and the main character is interesting and growing consistently with each chapter. He’s really well written. The side cast feels a bit dull for now, but it’s still early, so I’m sure they’ll get more development as the story goes on. If anyone’s reading this review, I highly recommend giving this novel a try. It’s really good, and I’m looking forward to seeing where it goes. Definitely adding this to my collection!
