Ethan fondly patted Missy's head and poured half a bowl of boiling water. After it cooled down, he discreetly used his ring's power to add a few drops of spiritual water into the bowl, then handed it to her.
"Dad, last night, Mum asked me why there was a special fragrance on my body and i told her don't know either! Am I not smart Dad?" Missy giggled as she took the bowl and gulped the water down, tilting her head cutely.
Ethan chuckled. "Smart and clever! Come, Dad has a little gift for you."
He stretched out his hand, and a purple jade pendant appeared — refined by his spiritual water, now a top-grade purple jade. He carefully hung it around her neck.
"Do you like it?" Ethan asked softly.
"Yes! Thank you, Dad!" Missy beamed and pulled Ethan down to peck his cheek.
"Wow, this is an angel's kiss!" Ethan teased, ruffling her hair. "Alright, go play with Whiskers and Blackie."
As he watched her run off, Ethan sighed. This little girl… she should have been his and Natalie's child. Fate sure played cruel tricks.
Because there were a lot of guests today, Ethan cooked fifteen dishes. When everything was ready, he called Suzie to ask when she'd be back and said she was almost home.
Hearing that, Ethan hurriedly pulled out all the dishes from his Ring Space, setting a large round table. Cigarettes and drinks were placed on another table for anyone who wanted them.
"Dad, is Mum coming back to eat?" Missy asked, sitting atop Blackie while Whiskers perched on her shoulder.
"That's right." Ethan smiled.
"Yay! I will go welcome Mum!" She patted Blackie. "Giddy up!"
Blackie looked at Ethan hesitantly. Ethan laughed. "Go ahead, but be gentle with her."
Blackie barked softly and carried Missy Su and Whiskers steadily forward. Little did anyone know, Ethan secretly brought Blackie and Whiskers into his Ring Space every few days, feeding them spiritual water. Not only had they grown stronger, but they also became impeccably clean — not a single flea on them.
Meanwhile, Suzie and Natalie were walking back when they saw Blackie approaching with Missy perched on its back and Whiskers curled up on her shoulder.
"Wow! So cute!" Suzie squealed, pulling out her phone to snap a picture. Natalie did the same, unable to resist capturing the moment.
Henry chuckled as he quickened his pace, scooping Missy into his arms. He pulled out a big red packet and grinned. "Here, little girl. Uncle Henry bought you some candy!"
Missy frowned, pushing the red packet away. "No! Mommy said not to take things from strangers!"
Natalie took her daughter and smiled apologetically. "Henry, she's still young. Don't spoil her with so much money."
Henry waved her off. "Come on, old classmate. The girl doesn't know how to spend it, but you do! Take it as a little gift from her rich uncle." He stuffed the red packet into Missy's hands.
Natalie hesitated but eventually handed the red packet to her mother, Martha, who excitedly pinched it. Her eyes widened. "Goodness! There's at least twenty thousand here!"
Just then, Natalie noticed the red string around Missy's neck. "What's that?" she asked curiously.
Missy proudly held out the heart-shaped purple jade pendant. "Daddy gave me this! Isn't it pretty?"
Gasps filled the air. Under the sunlight, the purple jade shimmered with an enchanting glow, purer and more transparent than glass. Even those unfamiliar with jade could tell it was precious.
Suzie gasped. "My god… this is top-grade purple jade! Ethan really gave it to her?"
Natalie panicked. "How much is it worth?"
Everyone leaned in, curious. Some guessed it must be over a hundred thousand. For the older villagers, that was an astronomical figure.
Suzie's eyes widened. "A piece of this quality? At least three million… and that's if you can even find one!"
The crowd erupted in shock.
"Baby, take it off!" Natalie reached for the pendant, flustered. "It's too expensive — I'll give it back to Uncle Ethan."
Missy clutched the pendant protectively and scrambled back onto Blackie. "No! Daddy gave it to me. Why can't I keep it? Big Bro Blackie, run!"
Blackie barked and dashed off, carrying the little girl effortlessly. Even as they sped away, Missy sat perfectly steady on Blackie's back.
"Blackie, stop!" Natalie called out, but Martha stopped her.
"Don't chase them, dear. You'll only make Blackie run faster. She'll be fine."
Henry clapped Natalie on the shoulder. "Come on, old classmate. You know Ethan. Once he gives something, there's no taking it back. Trying to return it will only push him away."
Natalie sighed, realizing Henry was right. She glanced toward Ethan, who stood quietly, watching his daughter ride off with Blackie. Her heart ached.
In the crowd, Joe watched silently. As expected… Ethan wasn't just some farmer. He was a hidden big shot. Three million for a jade pendant? Even Henry's twenty thousand seemed like pocket change now.
Joe smirked to himself. He'd guessed correctly — Ethan Yang was no ordinary man.
