Melody was at home celebrating her childhood sweetheart Levi's birthday. To prevent me from interrupting them, she deliberately called to trick me and our daughter into going to a ski resort thirty miles away.
Heavy snowfall blocked the mountain roads, and I froze to death there.
On the day she regained her sight, she finally remembered that I had been tricked into going to the ski resort.

Melody stood at the doorway, hearing everything crystal clear.


She felt as if she'd been plunged into an icy abyss.
