Days in the academy

-East of Velmoria-

In a dimly lit room, a man looks outside his study room towards the estate gates with intensity. Soon, he sees a messenger entering the estate. After some time there is a knock on the door.

"So did you find them", the man says trying not to sound nervous.

The messenger says in a nervous tone "M-My Lord, the knights only found the carriage. There seem to be signs of battle, it can be confirmed that it was a well-planned ambush. All the lower rank guards' bodies were found some distance away towards the Ursine Range."

The man shocked says," Towards the mountain clans"

The messenger, " Yes Lord"

The man," Are you saying this is done by those mountain dwellers."

The messenger," Lord, while the trail leads to the ursine forests this seems to be done by bandits, judging from the corpses found. They seem to a large group with few strong individuals among them maybe even a fifth rank"

The man was furious," You're telling me that this was done by a bunch of fucking bandits." grabbing the terrified soldier's collar he roared," Do you think I am a fool there were 4-third rank knights, 1-third rank mage, and 1-fourth rank knights and they were taken out by fucking bandits. Is that what I should report to his majesty, that the escort he sent was taken down by a bunch of nobodies."

The messenger now scared for his life said in a pleaded tone, "Please give us some time count. We will soon get results and find the culprit" 

Den Desdemona was aggrieved, " Get out." he roared. He knew he needed results and fast that is if he did not want for House Desdemona to be burned to the ground.

-Velmoria Royal Academy-

-Boys Dorm-room-

"Luke, get up it 8 am already."

"U-Ummm, Enver let me sleep its not like the teachers care if people of our status attend" said Luke half asleep.

Enver shaking his head pulled Luke from his bed.

30 minutes later 

Luke walking towards the academy says, "You know there is no need to be the first to arrive right? It's not like you get extra credit for it or something."

It's been 2 months since the start of school.

After 2 months Luke is one of the three friends Enver had managed to make and unsurprisingly in their friend group they all had similar circumstances Enver is an heir to a small countryside territory, and Luke is a commoner who awakened the gift of water making his affinity to water magic strong compared to rest. Then, there is Jake Makenje heir to the rising merchant house of the Makenje family. Though rich his family was by not means wealthy enough to move those old aristocratic houses so he gets the same treatment as a commoner after all though Luke is also a commoner he is a mage so as long as he keeps his head down no one would bother him but it is different for Jake while not a nobel he got into the scholar program which would make him a official after garduation so for the nobels the thought that a commoner could one day hold them same amount of power as them was not a good thought so Jake always got in trouble without his new friends protecting him jake would not have a good four years and finally Philip Crimson, a sword maniac he is a true swordsman through and through as the third son of Count Leon Crimson he was the among the few within the aristocratic circle who care for a persons capability and personality than there background so to put it simply he had no friends due to his straight forward personality coming to the academy he met Enver mostly because he was among those who use the practice ground till late night and after Enver acked for few sparing sessions they slowly bonded over the sparing sessions though enver mostly got thrashed by Philip but since Enver never complained he had unknowingly earned Philips approval as a hard-working and aspiring knight.

These 4 made have made a small friend group training together and looking after each other back in the mini imperial battle ground of the aristocratic houses of Kamoba.

In these months, Enver has managed to reach the peak of the first rank which though is a lot of progress compared to his previous pace but with the speed at which he was going he feared he would soon be left behind after all among his 20 classmates 4 very at the middle of the second rank 3 were at the late stage of the second rank 5 were second rank Philip among them and the other were in a similar level as him.

The gap was starting to show, Enver was by no means worthless or anything of such sort in fact with sheer will and dedication he firmely stood around the middle of his class meaning he was average but Enver knew average would get him killed and his house destroyed. His lands were being encroached, what his house needed was a powerful figure to rely on not some average knight.

-Classroom-

"Class for the past 2 months you have been taught the basics required for all aspiring knights but just knowing is not going to cut out for the students of the Royal Academy, so starting today your theoretical class will be 40 minutes instead of one-hour meaning four-hours for study and four will be practical rest of the time you are free to do as you wish. Any Questions." seeing his student's professor Humfre started his class for the day.

" I heard that there will be a dungeon expedition every four months do you think it's true," asked Philip 

"Probably is why do you ask?" said Enver

"Because it a dungeon, not a playground, even a battlefield may be better at your enemy may show some shred of mercy if not a swift death but a dungeon is not the treasure trove one would think they are not like in the fairytale where a knight gains great power and wealth," Philip.

"And god for bid, why are you telling me that," asked Enver puzzled 

"Because you tend to do things before thinking and a dungeon is not one to forgive such actions. I understand your difficulty but risking one's life for a gamble hoping it pays off will get you killed," said Phillips 

 Enver is still not sure where this random conversion was going asked. " I still don't know why you are telling me this. "

 Philip " Because I might not be here for the expedition."

Enver " What, Why won't you be going."

Philip " Apparently, something happened in Viscount Desdemona's territory."

Enver  "What happened? "

Philip " Don't know but it is serious enough for the imperial house to make a move."

Enver " Is it that serious."

Philip nodes.

'But still why does this has to do with you not going to the expedition.' said Enver

'Don't know all I know is that father want's be back by next week.' said Philip

The rest of the day goes smoothly with Enver curious about what could be going on in the east. Though he had no idea about the storm brewing in the forest of Ursine.
