Chapter 49: The Most Beautiful Life is a Disciplined One

"Hey, I appreciate Mao Xian's kindness, but let's stick to equality between men and women. We don't do anything special. Although he's a guy, I think I can try lifting him," Wang Xiaoxian said, and with that, she effortlessly picked him up in a princess carry. She added with a grin, "Ha, although I'm a girl, I still have some strength."

"Is that even considered 'a little strength'?" Chen Fan couldn't help but comment as he watched Mao Xian being lifted high in the air.

As soon as Wang Xiaoxian set him down, Mao Xian quickly muttered, "I need to go to the bathroom," and hurried off.

However, Mao Xian was just a small part of her wicked romantic scheme. Once he left, Wang Xiaoxian didn't slip away. Instead, she returned to her seat with an even brighter smile. Seeing her mysteriously confident grin, Chen Fan immediately felt a sense of unease and quickly found an excuse to leave.

At the beginning of the game, most of the boys were interested in Blue Mengmeng, but the imposing figure of Wang Xiaoxian in their midst was simply too overwhelming. Eventually, when they saw Wang Xiaoxian's smile, they fully understood the value of life.

Meanwhile, the few roommates gathered in a cool shaded area to play video games. Chen Fan, feeling a little idle, decided to take a stroll by himself.

Since the place was surrounded by water, it wasn't much fun unless you got in, so he quietly wandered off into a nearby forest.

The forest was peaceful, and after taking a few photos, Chen Fan walked around aimlessly for a while. As he was about to turn back, he noticed a silver-headed snake hanging from a tree nearby. To his surprise, as soon as he saw it, the snake fell and started flicking its tongue at him.

"Can a person outrun a snake?" Chen Fan wondered. He mentally went over several escape strategies—maybe he could dodge it with some fancy footwork, or just stand still and jump when it lunged at him, hoping to squash it underfoot.

Another idea crossed his mind, one that seemed more advanced: he could try mimicking a cat's sound to scare the snake away. Growing up in the countryside, he'd seen cats sometimes hunt snakes for their meals, so he felt it might work.

"Meow meow meow?" Chen Fan casually called out. Immediately, the snake lunged at him, making plan C a complete failure. In that crucial moment, his legs unexpectedly gave out.

Chen Fan immediately regretted not training more. If his spiritual energy were stronger, he could have frozen the snake before it even got close.

But then, to his surprise, the snake froze midair, seemingly immobilized in an unnatural position. Had he just unconsciously frozen it? The strong desire to stop the snake earlier must have done the trick. After a few seconds, the snake started moving again but immediately turned into something resembling a plastic toy.

"Could it be that using spiritual energy requires a strong desire for it to work?" Chen Fan, now amused, took a few steps back. Ten seconds later, the snake moved again, but this time, it collided with a large rock.

Seeing this, Chen Fan grinned widely. "Heh, now this is fun."

Just moments ago, he had been terrified of the snake, but now it felt more like a new toy.

"Snake, snake, looks like you're my playmate for today," he said, watching as the snake remained suspended in midair. Moments later, it dropped down again.

"Odd, are the eagles here too proud to eat delivery?" Chen Fan muttered, tossing the snake into the air once more and freezing it again.

Unbeknownst to him, a girl had been watching this bizarre scene from behind the forest. She was so shocked by the entire process that she couldn't say a word.

An hour later, Chen Fan walked out of the forest feeling quite satisfied. The fat guy quickly approached, grinning. "Where've you been, huh? We've been looking all over for you. Li Wei says it might rain soon, so we should pack up and head back."

"No worries, Fat Bro. The forest was pretty, and I found a cute little bug to play with for a while," Chen Fan replied with a smile.

"Alright, as long as you're fine," Fat Bro nodded.

As they spoke, a girl passed by and overheard their conversation. One of them couldn't help but shudder.

Around 5 PM, the rain finally showed its force. Li Wei had been smart enough to stock up the two big fridges in the villa with food, so when the rain started, they could still enjoy hotpot, which felt like a romantic touch.

Just as the first batch of meatballs cooked, everyone was about to start eating when suddenly, a flash of lightning struck, causing two of the more timid girls to scream. The room went completely dark.

Li Wei, looking worried, rushed to check the electrical system. Soon, he came back with unfortunate news: "The main breaker didn't work. It's probably an issue with the outside wiring. We'll have to wait for the storm to pass before we can fix it."

"But we still have plenty of uncooked meatballs! What should we do, Class Leader?" one girl asked.

Li Wei thought for a moment and replied, "Alright, here's the plan. There's still a lot of instant noodles upstairs. The guys can make do with that, and each person can add one meatball to try. The girls can have the meatballs. Oh, and we've got some rice cooked too, so you can all have that. Everyone good with this?"

"Wow, Class Leader, you're so nice!" The girls praised him.

"You've already distributed everything; what else can I say?" Chen Fan murmured under his breath. He didn't think this plan was perfect, but after staying in this world for over a month, he could control his appetite.

The other guys weren't entirely satisfied, but since this was the last trip together as a class, they didn't voice any objections.

So, a group of boys sat on the couch eating instant noodles, while Li Wei, concerned that the girls might be too dark, lit some candles for them. His actions didn't sit well with the guys, so they grumbled a bit.

"I'm going to crack! Do you have any rice? I'm done with the noodles," Mao Xian, who had finished his noodles, was the first to protest. A few others, still hungry, couldn't eat just plain rice, so no one followed him.

"Mao Xian, are you making 'death porridge' again?" Zhang Zhiwu shot him a disgusted look.

"If it's not dirty, it won't make you sick," Fat Bro said, munching on his noodles.

"Porridge kid, how annoying!" Xu Yijun sang sarcastically.

"Heh, Mao Xian, are you going to add rice too?" Just as Mao Xian walked toward the rice table, Wang Xiaoxian caught him.

He looked up, and seeing that she wasn't holding a bowl but a large plate, he froze. Usually, girls like Blue Mengmeng eat like little chicks pecking at rice, but this plate? It seemed to require a "tornado destroying a parking lot" to fill it.

"Uh, uh, you go ahead," Mao Xian stammered.

"You're so gentlemanly. Actually, Mao Xian, you're a good guy. Some people in class really admire you. If you were a bit bolder, there could be a story between you two," Wang Xiaoxian said, her cheeks flushing slightly.

But when she turned to face the rice cooker, her expression turned bloodthirsty, like a demon.

She grabbed the rice scooper and plunged it into the pot with force. Then, with a scoop as deep as the ocean, she piled it into the plate. Mao Xian, who could see the process through the wall's tiles, gulped nervously and thought, "If I take the initiative, it'll be a disaster, and I'll be fully responsible."

Wang Xiaoxian noticed his shocked expression and sighed dramatically, saying, "Forget it, I can't eat too much tonight. I'm going on a diet."

She picked up a small spoon and scooped out two spoonfuls. Then she smiled, "This will do for now. Wang Xiaoxian, you must exercise restraint. A disciplined life is the most beautiful."
