Chris’ Chamber

The doors shut behind them, sealing Chris and Skylar in the quiet sanctity of his chamber. The room was dimly lit, the golden glow of the chandelier casting long shadows over the grand furnishings. Chris walked toward his desk, his movements slow but deliberate, his mind clearly processing the encounter with Ethan.

Skylar stood near the door, still clutching the crown Ethan had tried to take from her. Her grip was firm, her expression unreadable.

Chris exhaled deeply and turned to face her. "I expected power to test him, but not this soon."

Skylar scoffed, placing the crown on a nearby table. "He thinks because he wears the title, he holds all control." She shook her head. "He's playing a dangerous game, Chris."

Chris nodded, rubbing his temple. "That's why I returned." He locked eyes with her. "To remind him that no matter how high he rises, I am the sky above him."

Skylar crossed her arms, her tone sharp. "You should've never left him unchecked for so long. He's already testing how far he can push."

Chris studied her for a moment before stepping closer. "And you think I don't know that?" His voice was calm but carried a weight that made her pause. "You wanted me to step back. You said he needed space to rule without me breathing over his shoulder."

Skylar exhaled, frustrated. "I didn't think he would turn that space into an opportunity to strip me of my position."

Chris tilted his head. "And he failed. Because I reminded him who holds the real power."

Skylar stared at him, then finally let out a breath. She stepped forward, reaching up to brush a hand over his chest. "You were always the true ruler, Chris. Even if you let others believe they are."

Chris smirked slightly. "And you, my love, were always the true Queen."

Skylar's lips curled into a smile, but it was laced with warning. "Then don't let anyone forget that again."

Chris chuckled. "I don't intend to." He gently took her hand and kissed her knuckles. "Let Ethan have his moment. He needs to learn. And when he finally understands the weight of true power, he will kneel—willingly."

Skylar tilted her head. "And if he doesn't?"

Chris' smirk deepened, his eyes darkening with something unreadable. "Then he will learn the hard way."

Silence stretched between them for a moment before Skylar nodded. "Then let's hope he chooses wisely."

Chris turned toward the window, overlooking the empire he had built. "He will." His voice was absolute. "Because in the end, no matter what choices he makes—he is still under me."
