POV: Agent Serah
The walk back to her extraction point felt like it took an eternity. Every step was calculated, every sound magnified in her ears. She could hear her heartbeat echoing through her head. There was no room for error now; she had the chip, and with it came the potential to shake the foundations of the Blackwood Empire itself.
The streets were empty, the quiet of the night pressing in on her as she moved swiftly through the shadows. Her earpiece hummed with static as Henry's voice came through, calm and unwavering.
"Serah, report. Do you have it?"
"I've got it," she whispered, glancing around. "The chip. It's in my possession. But I'm not sure what's on it yet. I'll need a secure location to access it."
Henry's voice was crisp. "Get to the drop zone. I'll have a team there waiting for you. Once you're clear, we'll analyze it immediately."
Her pulse quickened as she approached the extraction point. The night air felt colder now, like the calm before the storm. She had a strong feeling that this was bigger than just a simple contraband chip.
Arriving at the secured rendezvous, Serah made sure to blend in with the shadows as she approached the waiting car. Her eyes scanned the area for any signs of danger. Nothing. She was clear.
Sliding into the back seat, she handed the chip over to one of the agents waiting inside. The agent, a tech specialist, plugged it into a portable decryption device.
For a moment, there was nothing but the whir of machines as the data began to transfer. Serah felt a tightening in her chest. The weight of the chip in her pocket had been an unfamiliar feeling, and now, the contents within it seemed to hold a far greater significance than she had anticipated.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the screen flickered and the data decrypted. The agent's eyes widened as they began reading the information that had been hidden on the chip.
"This is... bigger than we thought," the agent muttered.
Serah leaned in, her heart racing. "What does it say?"
"It's a list," the agent replied, scanning the data. "A list of names, locations, and key figures within the Blackwood Union. But it's more than just that. There are plans... detailed plans for something massive. And not just within the Union—it's international."
Serah's breath caught in her throat. The implications were immediate. If Elias had been planning something on this scale, it could spell disaster for everyone under the Blackwood banner.
"What kind of plans?" she demanded.
The agent hesitated before answering. "Global operations. Militarized strategies. There are coordinates listed, some of them tied to financial institutions and covert operations... the scale of this is far beyond anything we imagined."
Serah's mind raced as she pieced together the puzzle. She had always suspected Elias of being involved in something dangerous, but this... this was a different level of threat. The Baron had been working in the shadows, orchestrating a plan that could destabilize not just the Blackwood Empire but the entire world.
"Are you sure about this?" Serah asked, her voice tight.
The agent nodded, his face grim. "Absolutely. This isn't just a conspiracy. This is real. And it's coming from within the very core of the Blackwood Empire."
Serah leaned back in the seat, her mind reeling. The Blackwood Union had always been a force to be reckoned with, and now she understood why Elias had been so careful, so meticulous. The chip contained the key to his operations, the thread that could unravel everything.
"I'll inform Henry," she said, her voice colder now. "He needs to know. This is much bigger than a single operation. This could change everything."
The agent nodded as he carefully packed the chip into a secure, encrypted case.
"I'll make sure the data is handled properly," he said.
Serah glanced out of the window, her mind still processing the enormity of what she had just uncovered. She wasn't just a cog in the machine anymore. She was part of something far greater. And soon, she would need to make a decision about how far she was willing to go to protect what she believed in.
As the car sped off into the night, Serah knew one thing for sure: The Blackwood Empire's secrets had only just begun to surface.
