Chris's POV –
Chris sat in his private chamber, his gaze fixed on the glowing screen before him. The interview with Classic had just concluded on BNN, and while the world saw the poised, confident figure of his son, Chris saw something deeper—something he knew all too well.
He leaned back in his chair, fingers tapping rhythmically against the polished surface of his desk. The air in the room was thick with anticipation, a silent tension as he processed every word Classic had said. His son had learned much, and Chris could feel the power in his words—words that promised not just a continuation of the Blackwood legacy, but an expansion, a solidification of their control that would rival anything the world had ever seen.
"The Blackwood name must remain synonymous with power." Classic's words echoed in his mind.
Chris couldn't help but smile. He had raised his son well, but the weight of what Classic had said wasn't lost on him. The future of the Blackwood Union would undoubtedly rest in Classic's hands. Yet, there was something else at play—something more than just the Union's future.
Chris's eyes narrowed as he thought back to the moments before the interview. Classic had spoken with such assurance, but Chris had detected a subtle undercurrent—ambition. It was in the way his son had spoken about his role within the family, the Union, and the world at large.
Ambition… it runs through the Blackwood blood. Chris mused, a sense of satisfaction filling him. After all, it was ambition that had gotten them this far. But it was also ambition that, if unchecked, could become dangerous. Chris knew this better than anyone. He had faced the consequences of ambition before.
He took a deep breath, leaning forward, his eyes never leaving the screen as the interview replayed in his mind. The political landscape was shifting, and Chris was aware that many of the moves his family made, both seen and unseen, would determine not just their future but the future of the entire world. The Blackwood Union had risen from the ashes of smaller nations, but it had become something much greater—something that could not simply be handed over without a fight.
Classic has grown into his own, Chris thought, his mind racing through possibilities. But he's still young, still learning.
Chris turned his chair slowly, his thoughts gathering like a storm. He could see it now—the subtle glint in Classic's eyes during the interview. His son was no longer just following orders. Classic was formulating his own strategy, building his own power base, but still tethered to the Blackwood legacy. That was something Chris could respect. But it was also something that needed careful monitoring.
He picked up the remote and paused the broadcast just as Classic spoke about the future. His finger hovered over the play button, but for a moment, Chris didn't press it. Instead, he let the silence settle in the room.
Classic thinks the future is all about power, Chris thought, the corner of his mouth curving into a slight grin. But what he doesn't realize yet is that it's about more than power. It's about control—control of the present and the future.
Chris leaned back in his chair, his gaze flicking to the door. There are things Classic still needs to learn, things that can't be taught through speeches or interviews. I'll have to make sure he understands that lesson soon enough.
As the seconds passed, Chris's thoughts turned to his next steps. He couldn't afford to let his son's ambitions get ahead of the greater plan. Classic might be ready for the world, but the world wasn't ready for Classic yet.
For now, though, Chris allowed himself a moment of pride. Classic had taken the first step toward securing his place in the Blackwood legacy. The question now was whether he would be able to handle what came next.
Chris finally pressed play, watching his son's face on the screen once more. He wasn't just looking at Classic. He was looking at the future of the Blackwood Union.
And in that moment, Chris knew that no matter what, the Blackwood family would stand as the most powerful force the world had ever known.
