The Whisper in the Throne Room

– Christiana Snitches

Christiana Blackwood's POV

Skylar thought she was clever.

She moved with elegance, spoke with conviction, and wrapped herself in the cloak of the people's hope. But I had seen her type before—ambition hidden behind concern, rebellion wrapped in reform.

And I, Christiana Blackwood, didn't bow to pretenders.

As soon as I left her so-called "People's Agency" meeting, I activated the secure link embedded in my wristband. Only one line was programmed into it. Direct to him.

Chris.

Seconds later, the call connected. No words were exchanged at first—none were needed.

"You saw the press conference?" I asked, my voice calm but sharp.

Silence.

Then a slow breath from his end. "Speak."

I didn't hesitate.

"She's building something—an agency. Not just for charity or reform. It's a power base, Chris. She's gathering strategists, thinkers, influencers. She's calling it 'The People's Agency,' but I've seen her list of targets. It's the hearts and minds of Sector 30,000 and below."

I paused, letting it sink in.

"She's creating an empire within your Empire. One loyal to her. Not you."

A low hum vibrated from Chris's end—dangerous, calculating. Then he spoke, and his voice was ice.

"She thinks she's leading the people. She forgets I own the people."

I smirked. "She's using your silence as a shield. The masses think you're letting her speak for them. They think she's the moral voice. If this goes unchecked, they'll start looking at her the way they once looked at you."

Chris didn't respond immediately. Then—

"She wants to play God? Fine. I'll remind her who created the heavens she walks on."

A shiver ran down my spine.

I knew that tone.

He wasn't angry—he was patient. Focused. And when Chris Blackwood got focused, something always broke.

"Thank you, Christiana," he said at last. "Report to me everything she does. Every meeting. Every word. And when the time is right..."

He didn't need to finish. I already knew.

Skylar had declared herself the hope of the people.

But in this game?

Hope was a weakness.

End of Scene.
