Treating Lin Lan to Dinner

Today was the 25th, and the 25th was the fixed payday for the company every month. So Ji Aier received her first salary since joining the company and was very excited.

"Let's go to the Happy Steakhouse. I'll treat you to steak tonight," Ji Aier said to Lin Lan.

"Missus, there's no need," Lin Lan declined.

"Yes, there is. I've caused you a lot of trouble during this period. Treating you to steak is just a small way for me to show my gratitude. And this steakhouse is where I used to work. Just consider it as accompanying me to have steak," Ji Aier insisted.

Lin Lan couldn't refuse Ji Aier, so he drove to the address she mentioned.

The Happy Steakhouse was still there, which made Ji Aier, who hadn't been to the steakhouse for two years, very happy. Before coming, she had been worried that it had closed down.

"Ai'ai!" Hu Kexin saw Ji Aier and exclaimed in surprise.

"Little Kexin, long time no see," Ji Aier smiled at Hu Kexin. He hadn't changed much, just a bit more mature. "Lin Lan, this is my former colleague Hu Kexin. Kexin, this is my friend Lin Lan," Ji Aier introduced Hu Kexin and Lin Lan to each other.

"Hello! Nice to meet you," Hu Kexin was as enthusiastic as ever.

"Me too," Lin Lan was rather laconic.

"How are Uncle Beard and Yanzi?" After Ji Aier and Lin Lan sat down, Ji Aier asked.

"Uncle Beard and his beloved wife have immigrated to Canada, and Yanzi has gone back to her hometown to get married. Now I'm the only one you know left in this steakhouse. The others are all new. I've been promoted to the manager now," Hu Kexin was still as humorous as ever.

"I'll come and support you often in the future! Lin Lan, order whatever you want. Don't be polite at all," Ji Aier said to Lin Lan. Then she turned to Hu Kexin and said, "I'd like a chicken chop set meal."

Lin Lan finally also ordered a steak set meal.

"I worked in this steakhouse for seven or eight years, so I have deep feelings for it. It makes me feel at home," Ji Aier said to Lin Lan with a smile.

"So that's why it's called Happy, right?" Lin Lan said. It was the first time he had seen a steakhouse with such a Chinese name.

"That's right. My former boss said that he wanted everyone who came here to eat steak to feel happy, so he named it the Happy Steakhouse. Isn't that a funny reason?" Ji Aier asked Lin Lan with a smile.

"No, because everyone has a different definition of happiness," What he wanted was to form an ordinary family with a girl he liked and live an ordinary life.

"I don't even know if you're married or not," Ji Aier asked while drinking the soup that had just been served. "If you're not, I can introduce someone to you."

"I'm not married yet, but I'm engaged," Lin Lan admitted honestly.

"Engaged is almost the same as married. Introduce me to her another day," Ji Aier said. She had originally wanted to introduce Wu Yaqi to Lin Lan, but now she didn't have the chance.

"If there's a chance," Lin Lan smiled.

For the first time, Lin Lan could regard Ji Aier as a friend rather than the young mistress, so he was willing to talk a bit more. Before this, he had been quite silent. Occasionally, he would just have a few exchanges with Ji Aier, and the rest of the time, he would concentrate on driving or just sit next to Ji Aier like a statue.
