This Is the Helplessness of Life

She retracted her hand, slowly got out of bed, and walked into the bathroom. She had to go to work!

In front of the mirror, she combed her long hair, which seemed to carry all her troubles. Finally, she pinned it up entirely and secured it with a hairpin. There was a bit of charm and a bit of laziness in her appearance.

She remembered a sentence from Zhang Ailing's work: When you die, my story ends, but when I die, your story still has a long way to go.

Without her in this world, the sun would still rise and set, and Ji Minze would still have Tang Lei and their son. But if Ji Minze were not in this world, her life would come to an end as well.

So compared to Ji Minze, she wasn't that important.

Thinking about this, Yiren opened the bathroom door and walked out. She saw that Ji Minze had already woken up and was sitting on the sofa. She wasn't sure if he was waiting for her.

"I'm going to work," Yiren said softly, then opened the bedroom door and was about to walk out.

"Will you leave me?" Ji Minze looked up and asked, his voice hoarse, low, and weak.

"No. But if you need me to leave, I will still agree," Yiren stood at the door for a while and then said, facing away from Ji Minze.

"I love you! I need you," Ji Minze stood up, walked over, and hugged Yiren from behind.

"Your responsibilities are different now. You should think carefully about how to compensate them, the mother and son. I'm going to work now," Yiren's voice was still so soft, as if only her body was standing in front of Ji Minze. She removed Ji Minze's hand and walked downstairs.

Without having breakfast, she went directly to the flower shop and saw that Mi Lan had already arranged all the newly purchased flowers.

"Sorry, I'm late today," Yiren said.

"It doesn't matter. It's only natural to be late occasionally," Mi Lan said indifferently.

Yiren didn't say anything more. She found that she couldn't smile today. She picked up the flowers that were waiting for her to deliver and left the flower shop.

There are some things that you clearly don't like, but you still have to do them. This is life. Sometimes, you have no control over it.

When she arrived at the Tang family's house, Yiren handed the flowers to the Tang family's maid and tried her best to appear as calm as ever.

"Our Second Miss has given birth to a son," the maid said happily as she took the flowers.

"Congratulations! Then I'll be going now. Bye," Yiren managed to squeeze out a smile and say. She began to think that what Cheng Yuxuan said was right. She used to be able to manage the company well because she was so good at putting on an act. Wasn't this the best advantage in the business world?

When Yiren was riding back, her phone rang. She put on the earphones and answered it.

"This is Yiren," she said listlessly.

"Yiren, are you okay?" Cheng Yuxuan's voice came through. He already knew that she had learned the truth. Now, all the four major families knew that the child Tang Lei gave birth to was Ji Minze's. He knew that she must be in great pain. So he wanted to see her.

"I'm okay," Yiren said dully. She found that she wasn't hysterical but was instead scarily calm. "But I'd be happier if you could come over and let me bite you." He had really been hiding something from her, and it was such an embarrassing thing!

"Then I'll come to you," Cheng Yuxuan said.

"No! Let's meet at the coffee shop. I want to have a cup of bitter coffee," Yiren said.

"Okay! Let's meet at the usual place," Cheng Yuxuan replied.

"Okay," Yiren said and then hung up the phone. She rode her bike back to the flower shop.

"Mi Lan, I want to take a few days off these two days," Yiren said to Mi Lan.

"Okay! I could tell something was wrong with you as soon as you came in this morning. Are you in a bad mood? There's no obstacle in this world that can't be overcome. Don't be too hard on yourself or the people around you. Take a few days off and rest well," Mi Lan said to Yiren. She was an understanding woman.

"Thank you," Yiren picked up her bag and walked out of the flower shop. The sun was a bit too bright, and she felt dizzy. She covered her eyes with her hand and walked forward.

After walking past two intersections, she saw that coffee shop. Cheng Yuxuan was standing at the door. He was waiting for her!

"Why don't you go inside and wait? It's so hot outside," Yiren asked when she walked up to Cheng Yuxuan.

"This way, you can feel how hard it is for me to wait for you," Cheng Yuxuan said teasingly, but only he himself knew that this sentence was actually from the bottom of his heart.

"Even if you were inside, I'd still know that you arrived first and were waiting for me," Yiren walked in as the waiter opened the door for them.

They chose a seat on the second floor where they could clearly see the people coming and going on the street.

"I'd like a cup of bitter coffee, please," Yiren said to the waiter.

Cheng Yuxuan glanced at her and didn't say anything. He just turned to the waiter and ordered a cup of Blue Mountain coffee and some desserts. He didn't like sweet things, so the desserts were ordered for Yiren.

The song playing in the coffee shop at the moment was "The Pig That Lost Its Happiness."

"I really feel like that pig," Yiren said with a bitter smile.

"A pig is always happy. Even if it's lost, it can be found again soon," Cheng Yuxuan said, looking at Yiren. He really didn't want to see her bearing the pain and still being so calm. Because this often meant that she was on the verge of breaking down at the moment.

"Stretch out your hand," Yiren said to Cheng Yuxuan.

Cheng Yuxuan stretched out his hand. Yiren grabbed his arm and bit it without any hesitation. Cheng Yuxuan didn't even frown. He just looked at her. He was the only one she could vent her emotions on now.
