Arrival

No to Indians in Canada?:

Canada, Ottawa

People are on the streets, asking for the deportation of Indians or any South Asian living in Canada. The hate in Canadian citizens towards Indians has increased to such a level that they are on roads to protest.

Ever since the trail of Mr. Paramjeet Singh for sexual assault of a 13 year old child, there has been a growing unrest in Canadian citizens to deport Indians at any cost. Protesters even attacked Indian embassies to assert their control.

It has been reported that Canadian media is stirring hate in citizens who were already frustrated about the abundance of Indians on Canadian streets.

Indian embassies and the opposers of this movement have clearly called it as a 'targeted attack' over them. This has went so far to even call Indians as 'ni**ers' or 'pajeets' openly without any hesitation by the protesters.

Indian people are clearly indignant by these protests and are also on road asking for equal rights in different countries and calling it a 'violation of human rights'. Sikh factions in India have openly shown their dissatisfaction and are sending threats.

Ervil's face scrunched in distaste at the news he was reading. This surely was the doing of Canadian media. This anti-Indian propaganda...

Russian Invasion is getting out of hand, NATO's last warning:

Russia is still wreaking havoc on its nearby countries under Brave Russia. It is specifically targetting countries which were previously part of the Soviet Union. It's highly possible that it wants to re-establish Soviet Union which won't be good for USA for it may initiate another Cold War—

Ervil stopped reading at that and sighed.

'Why is America so hesitant to take any strict actions?' he thought to himself, slightly disappointed by the lack of reaction of the US towards that conflict.

He folded the newspaper and looked out of the window of the bus. He was about to reach the address provided by Latinus in his letter. He was the only one reading newspaper in the bus which was odd nowadays. But he thought it was completely natural because he saw it in some movies.

In this era of technology, who still carries a newspaper? But for him, it was completely normal. He was sitting on the front-most seat. He didn't open the paper again because he knew there would be only murder cases and some economic bullshit which he didn't understand. He wasn't interested in commercial movies, having watched enough to conclude what normalcy meant. Sure he made many blunders in his lifetime due to misinterpretations.

Once, when he was in high school, he was dating a girl. While sitting in a resturant, she was talking about her family background. Her friends, her past, her likes and dislikes, how her studies and social life was going. But what did Ervil say?

'You have a nice body, wanna go to my room?'. This reply instantly disgusted that girl and she left abruptly without any explanation. Ervil saw that thing in some movie and thought that's how you get a girlfriend. But he soon realised that there must be a catch and there, of course, was. But ever since that day, he refrained from interacting with women much. He found them generally driven by emotions which he couldn't possibly understand.

He leaned against the window after getting bored. While looking at the passing by buildings and looking at people. Observing people in free-time was his favourite hobby. But for some reasons, he always stated that he listens to sermons and reading books. Perhaps he was aware of the fact that his hobby wasn't normal.

Subway wasn't for Ervil. He thought buses were more elegant and was more exposed to them since childhood.

Finally as he reached his destination, he stood up from his seat and signalled the driver to stop. Eventually, he made his way out of the bus. He was standing infront of the 70, Park Avenue building. Latinus was inside that building in one of the room.

Of course he would stay at a refined hotel. He was the founder of Brave America, an independent organisation whose aim, just as the name suggests was to bring back the glory of US. And then, that organisation had expanded to whole American continent providing high quality education, health care services, and unrestricted media across whole continent. It even had its own banks to provide loans at better rates (though they were also regulated by the Fed as stated officially).

Russia replicated Brave America and created a political party out of it. Well, there was a controversy concerning that and Latinus's simple response was to just let them be. People said that creating a political party based off of his independent organisation's name was a disrespect but he didn't care.

And about Latinus? Ervil and he met at the inauguration ceremony of 'the third temple'. And then and there Ervil realised his grandevour. He was such a wise person even at a young age. A great philosopher and a good citizen. He also contributed in the study of human psychology and ethical philosophy, occassionally organising debates about many philosophical topics. His philosophy about God influenced many, thought people misinterpreted his ideas. His idea of God, not just some entity but the root cause of everything heavily, impacted Ervil's worldview.

Though, his work was infamously accused as being one of the cause of the initial religious crisis. People were giving up their belief over God just because he said in his book that God is shapeless and is more likely a manifestation of our conscience. And as soon as people realised that, they quit their religions. Though that was not in a very large number but it surely ignited doubt in many minds.

Ervil looked at that building, gazing at the building from bottom to top. The building was elegant, fulfilling the standards of Ervil. He then approached the building with light steps to reciprocate the elegance emanating from the building. He entered the building but as usual, he observed the whole area whole standing at the front.

It was just his habit. And it many times dragged him in trouble. He once saw a woman walking down the street but her handbag had the price-tag on it. Perhaps she forgot about that but that caught Ervil's eye. To quench his curiosity, he followed the woman until she noticed him and caused a huge scene. Ervil learned from his mistakes and now is more discreet about it.

He went to the receptionist and leaned against the counter with elbow just like he watched in his favourite sitcom.

"May I ask in which room is Mr. Latinus is residing in?" He asked in pronounced accent to emanate elegance.

The woman, slightly amused at the display of 'elegance' of the guest said,

"Sorry sir, we can't provide you with the room number of Mr. Latinus." She said.

Ervil paused, he knew this might happen.

"I am called by him"

"We are very sorry but we can't—" as soon as she said that, she received a phone call. She took it and listened to the person on the other side before turning to Ervil.

"Are you Mr. Woodman?" She asked.

"Yes, I am Ervil Woodman"

She put down the phone and started,

"I am very sorry, sir. Wait a few minutes before I let you know his room number." She said before turning towards the desktop.

In the meantime, Ervil looked around the area turning his head around almost mechanically.

'Am I supposed to say something?' he thought to himself contemplating his next course of action. The low voice of him tapping the counter with his fingers mixed with the distant murmur was interrupting his thought process.

"Latinus is great, isn't he?" He asked abruptly to the woman. The woman looked up at him with a jerk, slightly surprised that he started a conversation. She just laughed nervously and replied,"Yes, he is" before going back to do her job.

Ervil nodded back and started looking around again. Eventually, the woman said,"Room no. 156" she said.

"Thank you" Ervil said before turning on heal towards the lift.

After reaching the respective floor, he started walking in the corridor, trying to find that room until he spotted the number 156. Ervil knocked on the door and a huge man, probably a bodyguard with short hair and tanned skin opened the door. He looked at Ervil like he was threatening him, though that might just how he usually looked. But Ervil didn't flinch. He maintained eye contact and stated his name with that same pronounced accent.

The guard nodded and stepped aside. Ervil entered the room. The room was light in colour and filled with sunlight coming from the window which stood exactly opposite to him. The luxurious sofa with TV exactly opposite to it gave the room a comforting and cozy undertone.

The light coloured veils over the window, lazily set aside gave the room a more human touch. Though, the smell was of air freshner which Ervil especially didn't like much. It felt to him like someone has just moved in and snatches away the intimate feeling a perfect room or abode gives.

The bodyguard was wearing a usual black suit. Just what a typical bodyguard wears but Ervil could see the wrinkles on his tie. If he were to be young, he would had pointed that out. But he kept his curiosity to himself.

The guard went further inside and opened the door for Ervil. There, Ervil saw Latinus sitting on a small couch, his elbows fixed on his thighs and holding chin, deep in thought.

The bodyguard called Latinus out. He snapped out of his trance and looked at Ervil, who was simply standing on the doorway.

"Oh, welcome" Latinus stood up in a gesture of respect despite his already high status.

Ervil bowed slightly, reciprocating the respect. Latinus then gestured him to sit down opposite to him and signals the bodyguard to leave.

The bodyguard obediently bowed and stepped back without turning away and left the room. Ervil eventually sits down opposite to Latinus and looked around again. Infront of him was the table, and just opposite to him was Latinus. Looking around, he saw the fine interior of the room and behind him, slightly to the left was the bed with slightly dishealved sheet.

In the corner adjacent to the bed stood a canvas on which Latinus probably was trying to paint.

"How was your journey?" Latinus asked, breaking the silence and pulling out Ervil from his inspection. He blinked multiple times before answering

"It was peaceful, nothing much out of ordinary"

"Come on, you not seeing something unusual is like sun rising from west"

"If you insist...your guard's tie was wrinkled—"

At that, Latinus chuckled.

"I know, I know. He is pretty clumsy but very serious when it comes to job"

"And the woman at reception was pretty afraid of her boss too"

"Well, who is not? You can't really defy the one who provides you bread to fill your stomach"

"You always make sense"

Latinus laughed. Ervil laughed at that but it lacked the human touch.

Hahahahahah...he laughed in one breath. But Latinus didn't mind it.

"Perceptive as always, huh?" He remarked

"Thanks" he simply said. If he were on a date again, that would be over for him.

Latinus didn't mind it. He knew what kind of man Ervil was.

"Now about why I called you here—" Latinus started. He had now Ervil's full attention.

"On 17th of March, there is a local Diocese event, and I assume you are already aware of that, right?" Latinus asked.

Ervil simply nodded at his question.

"And Cardinal would be present too. That is the biggest problem"

Ervil's eyes widened. If Latinus was afraid of something, that must hold weight.

"We have got information that there might be an attempt to...assassinate the Cardinal during that event"

Ervil's jaw dropped at that revelation, purely due to the shock he received.

There was silence for a good minute, both letting the news sink in.

"And who do you think are the groups involved in this planning or conspiracy?" Asked Ervil.

Latinus shook his head slightly to show that he was also making assumption and is fully based on the information provided by the agents.

"Satanic groups who want to mock the Church system with the aid of people who bear deep resentment" Latinus said.

"I informed the security about it but still...I don't want this to happen. That's why I called you. I am calling people who can undertake this job" said Latinus.

Ervil raises an eyebrow at that statement.

"So you have called other people too other than me?" Ervil said.

"Yes, some are priests and some are retired officers who I can trust will work from sidelines and ensure the safety of Cardinal"

"So...you are simply creating a kind of squad who can work from sidelines..." Said Ervil, more like talking to himself.

"I booked you a room in a hotel down the street" said Latinus

"For me?" Ervil inquired.

"For everyone who will come"

Ervil nodded at that and was in deep thought.

"They all will come here by tomorrow or the day after. Until, you may rest in that room"

"If that's the call of the moment" Ervil stood up and bowed slightly in respect.

Latinus stood up and nodded back and Ervil took his leave.
