 The Betrayal of the Stars

The stars shimmered coldly above as Lyra and her companions emerged from the Veil, their bodies aching from the ordeal. The celestial guardians had granted them passage, but the trial had left Lyra shaken. The vision of her dark self still lingered in her mind—a whisper of a fate she could not allow to come true.

Kael rode beside her, his expression unreadable. "You saw something in the trial," he murmured. "Something you're not telling us."

Lyra's fingers tightened on the reins. "It doesn't matter."

"It does," Alden interjected, his voice firm. "We need to trust each other, Lyra. If you're hiding something—"

"Enough," Selene cut in, her eyes scanning the horizon. "We're being followed."

From the shadows emerged a cloaked figure. "Princess Lyra," he said smoothly. "We have been expecting you."

The betrayal had begun.
