Dom.
"Is she awake yet?" Theresa asks me from the doorway to my bedroom. Her head peeks into the room to the lying woman on the bed. I shake my head at her but my eyes don't leave Alaina's form for a moment.
She sighs and turns to me. "Alright then, I brought you some tea. You've been sitting there for hours since her surgery. Don't you want to eat anything?" The concerned older woman asks me again, this time worry lines her forehead as she gazes down at me affectionately.
I shake my head at her. "I'm fine, Theresa. Thank you." But my words done ease the woman's worry at all.
She stays put for a moment before walking inside the room to drop the cup of tea on the dresser table. I smile at her before she leaves. "Thanks once again."
"It's nothing, sir." She replies offhandedly and shuts the door behind her. My eyes divert back to the sleeping woman on my bed and I can't help but remember what happened three night ago, at the auction house.
