Roselyn's POV
About the new establishment of another branch of our academy in your hometown, New Arcadia, how do we go about it? We just got word from Mr. Harrison, and he asked that we inquire from you if you would like to oversee it?” My secretary, Della, asked me one day at the office.
After the end of the educators conference we had, I had returned to Riverton at once and this was just a week after that.
“I'll take it up myself. Please notify him about it. Or rather, I'll do that myself” I answered, focusing back on my duties. Returning to New acardiac has always been my wish, mainly because I'm yet to take my revenge Miss Catherine because I must have my name cleared from the scandal, so I can restore my tarnished reputation. That way I can be fully fulfilled.
So the creation of a new branch of our academy there has provided me with an ample opportunity to go back there for a while, pending the time of the completion of the project and hopefully, I would have achieved my revenge by then.
“Alright ma'am, I'll leave that to you then” Della answered, moving back to work.
Mr. Harrison Noah was the one who later called me concerning my agreement to oversee the creation of the new branch instead of me.
“Hello, Miss Roselyn. You can't imagine how happy I was the moment I heard from the secretary that you opted to oversee the creation of another branch in your hometown. I've always wanted you to be the one that would oversee that for us as well, but you know, because of your not-so- good history there, I was unable to get myself to tell you about it.”
“It's alright, Mr. Harrison. I understand, and I do have a personal reason why I opted for it. So rest your concerns!” I replied.
“Thanks so much, Miss Roselyn. I have no worries now, knowing you would do a good job over there just like you did here. I do not regret my decision of choosing you to run the academy for me” He complimented.
“Sure, sir. If there is nothing else I would like to go now.” I answered, ending the call myself.
So on Sunday, after church, having already packed my things, I headed for new Acadia with a few of my team members from the academy, and we were travelling in an official car driven by the academy's chauffeur, but along the way, our car got spoiled, and we had to continue our journey with a taxi.
As my team members flagged down a taxi for us to enter, I declined to join them. “I'll take the public bus instead” I communicated.
“The public bus? Why? Are you not lodging at the prepaid hotel with us?” They questioned.
“Well, I guess I would have to remind you guys that we are in my hometown, so I want to use this opportunity to pay my friend and parents a visit. I'll be joining you guys at the hotel after that!” I answered.
“Sure ma'am, whatever works for you!” They answered, “See you then!” they said, bidding goodbye to me as their taxi zoomed off, and I headed over to the bus stop to join the bus heading to the location I was going. It was the last bus for the day and only public buses are allowed on that route, which was why I couldn't go with a taxi. It would have been better if I had my car with me, but then I didn't so I had to make do with the public bus.
Probably because it was the last bus for the day, or because it was the most available and affordable means of transportation for most people, the bus was full or rather, jam-packed to the extent the driver had to make this announcement; “Dear passengers, to ensure everyone's comfort and safety, kindly place your bags in the overhead racks where possible. This will free up space and make the ride more pleasant for all. Thank you for your cooperation”.
At once everyone began to place their bags on the overhead racks and so did I with my travelling suitcase as I quickly sat opposite it so when we reached my junction, I came down from the bus, taking my suitcase with me but without being aware that I had gotten it exchanged with someone else's not until I got to Evelyn, who was the first person I went over to visit.
“Oh my gosh, Roselyn, is that really you?” She exclaimed upon meeting me as she tightly embraced me.
“I guess I must have changed a lot, seeing as you don't even recognize me, huh?” I asked teasingly.
“Honestly, I'm in love with the new Roselyn I'm seeing now. You've gotten robust and a lot pretty. Riverton is truly treating you well, and it's telling on your skin. Look at how fresh and glowing they are” She commented, seizing me up.
“Oh, Evelyn, stop with the compliments. You are not looking or doing bad yourself, and I've greatly missed you!” I expressed.
“My dear, we definitely have a lot of catching up to do. I truly hope you won't be leaving us any time soon?” She asked.
“Not so soon, my dear.” I responded as she twirls her hips in happiness.
“I'm glad to hear that. Welcome home, sweetheart. If only you had told me that you were coming over today, I would have prepared some delicacies for you, but since you didn't, you would have to manage what I have at home”.
“Of course, Evelyn, you know food can never be a problem between us!” I answered with a smile on my face.
“Holy cow! Does that mean any other thing can be a problem between us then?” She jokingly asked, causing me to laugh out more.
“I think you've misunderstood me, sweetheart. You should have known by now that you are my favorite person, so I can't be in loggerheads with you”.
“Sure, sure, we are friends for life.” She chirped as we both headed inside her house, and it was only after I had opened my suitcase
to bring out my things did I discover about the switch.
