Chapter 6

Roselyn’s POV

“Look who is here with us! Is that Miss Roselyn from old memories that I'm seeing here?” Miss Catherine asked upon bumping into each other on the way to the meeting auditorium, a knowing smile dancing on her lips.

“And is that Miss Catherine of bad memories that I'm seeing here? How is it that you've never changed?” I asked back, returning her energy as I quickly seized her up.

“I see you still hold some grudges towards me, but I guess it can't be helped. The last time I checked, you went far away to the city of Riverton, so may I know what brought you back to this place, to New Arcadia?

“Seems like you've been keeping tabs on me, Miss Catherine. How else can I explain why you're so interested in knowing about me, huh? Don't tell me that you still feel threatened by me despite my absence all this while?” I probed, smirking at her, her expression going pale instantly.

“You only wish so, Miss Roselyn. You and I know you are nowhere close to me both in social status and financially” She chimed, and I only let out a small smile at her.

“Wait, allow me to understand something, Miss Catherine. Are we in some kind of competition here? You keep talking like one whose self-esteem has been severely tampered with because I can't understand why being so certain of the edge you have over me, you still speak to me about it even when I hadn't mentioned a word concerning it” I mouthed, giving her a once over as color drained out from her face.

“You… don't you dare insult me, Miss Roslyn as I won't take it lightly with you”

“Is that so? Let's see what you got then. But you know what? There is something I'm so much interested about, though, and you know what that is?”

“R.E.V.E.N.G.E— that's the name. You know I'm yet to have my revenge on you for the audacious stunt you pulled on me five years ago. You asked why I came back here, right? Now that's the answer for you. You just have to watch your back from now on because I can strike at any given point!” I finished walking away from her into the auditorium as she followed soon after me, surprised that I am part of the conference meeting held by the board of educators in the nation.

She couldn't even bear or control her curiosity and jealousy as she turned over to the anchor of the meeting, and asked,” How is it that Miss Roselyn David here is in this meeting with us?”

“Have you perhaps forgotten about the scandalous history hanging around her and how she was shamefully dismissed from school back then, so how could you let her grace this occasion? And here in the midst of educators and school administrators of our caliber?

“Do you guys not invite the kind of people to invite in a grand conference or has everything been watered? Because I don't understand why someone like her with no relation or connection to our nation’s education is allowed to be here? Please have her leave us at once. I'm worried she would rub off on us and have our good reputation tarnished just by mixing up with us.” She scorned, rolling her eyes vigorously at me.

“I'm afraid not, Miss Catherine of Holmes high school as Miss Roselyn you're speaking about is a prominent figure in the educational system of our nation I'm surprised that you do not know of that”

“Can you explain more? What do you mean by she's a prominent figure in the educational system? How can I not know that If she's truly one?”

“How can you when you're clearly blinded with jealousy and judgment?” I asked, sipping the glass of wine on my table as I bore my gaze into her.

“Ever heard of Harrison Noah's brain more Academy, Miss Catherine?” One of the administrators there asked her.

“Of course, Is there anyone who doesn't know of it? It's an academy that rose to fame in just five years of starting off but what does that have to do with her?” She asked.

“A lot my dear, she's the director of the academy, the backbone, and precisely the one who had brought the school to the place it is now in just five years”

“No… I can't believe that! But isn't Mr. Harrison Noah, like the name of the academy bears, the founder of the school?” She probed, gasping with disbelief.

“In name, yes. But Miss Roselyn here is the one we know as the anchor of the school. So it is safe to say that the management of the school and all that was handed over to her and to crown it all, her invitation to this conference came from the national education government body, so I hope you refrain from defaming her, and never jump into conclusions again”.

“Please treat her with respect as you could with every other educator present in this meeting and the scandalous incident about her is all in the past now, and I hope we focus on the future from now on!” The anchor of the meeting chided, Miss Catherine, going into her shell, her ego severely altered and wounded.

Her cheeks flushed with great embarrassment. Her gaze dropped to the floor, and her lips tightened as if struggling to regain composure, and she didn't dare to look my way again throughout the meeting and I couldn't be more happy, relishing at the moment. This is just the start of it. She ought to be prepared for more of this in the future.

I'm going to return the same amount of torment and misery she gave to me.

After the conference ended I was surrounded with several educators and administrators asking for my contact, and wanting to connect with me. Since it was just too much for Miss Catherine to bear, Just the sight of it, she left the place before us in

the guise of an emergency that came up for her.
