Chapter 66

Roselyn's POV

I had attended the court session because of Evelyn, whose family has a close connection with the family of the victim, Tonia, and also because Ivan was the lawyer representing her in the case. I wanted to see the outcome of the case.

So after the recess which lasted for just 30 minutes, we all returned inside as I took my seat on the second roll, away from Evelyn who was sitting on the front roll with her parents and that of the victim as we.

Ever since that day when I had made known my feelings for Ivan to her, and she lashed at me instead of offering me comfort, we've not been on talking terms as I kept my distance away from her. She took, aware of my resentment against her, respected my decision, and stayed away from me as well.

The courtroom fell silent as soon as the judge took his seat before us, clearing his throat to begin his address, the expression on his face, stern as he delivered the final verdict.
