A Desperate Gamble

~SLOAN'S POV~

From that day on, I avoided him. He reminded me of how men never kept their promises. He had promised to protect me but after finding out a few things, he had been so willing to hurt me. No explanation I gave before was enough for him before my trial. Certainly, none would be for him now.

During breakfast, I would sit at least five seats away from him. One morning, he said. “My supposed future Luna has forgotten how to speak but she knows how to eat.”

That statement alone made me so uncomfortable eating there, in the same room with me. If he wanted me to voluntarily leave, then his plan was working.

“She hasn't forgotten how to speak,” Jax said in my defence. “I mean, she's been speaking to me. If you are not on talking terms with her, I suggest you speak to her privately about it rather than publicly make side remarks. Everyone's watching how you treat her. If you keep this up, how do you expect any of the pack to respect her?”
