Meeting Up

Saturday, 19th of November.

Afternoon. 

Lin Yuan and Zhang Li were waiting at the front of the theatre building, leaning against the wall. Occasionally, people would walk past them to enter the building. 

The sun was still shining brightly even though it was late afternoon but thankfully there was a slight breeze that ruffled their clothes. 

Zhang Li looked down at the time, there was still twenty minutes till the appointed time.

He complained, "Ah where is everyone? We shouldn't have come early."

Lin Yuan looked up from his phone, "You're the one who forced us."

"Hehe, I had to get out of the house, my mom was going to make me work at the restaurant. Who makes their only son work on a weekend?! I told her this was slave labour!"

"Really?"

"Of course not! Do you think I'm an idiot?"

"Yes."

"You!" Zhang Li shook his head and decided to calm down. He thought it wasn't good to argue with a fool who wears his school uniform when he goes out to play.

Zhang Li checked himself out through the glass window of the theatre building. 

Look at this handsome guy! Zhang Li struck a cool pose. He was wearing his Jordans today, he was sure the other guys would be jealous. The only blemish…He looked at this head. 

He tried to press down his fluffy hair but to no avail. 

"Boss Zhang, what are you doing?"

When Zhang Li turned around he saw that two people were walking towards him. 

"Ye Fan!…huh, oh it's you." Zhang Li's mood was lowered when he saw that the other person was Chen Su.

"Hello, Brother Zhang." Chen Su had a casual smile on his face as he ignored Zhang Li's expression. He turned to Lin Yuan, "Hey Lin Yuan."

Lin Yuan nodded in response. 

Zhang Li was annoyed at seeing Chen Su but he quickly threw that aside and turned to Ye Fan, "You guys are late! When is everyone else going to get here? We still need to buy tickets."

"Um…Boss Zhang about that…" Ye Fan was shifty, "Well, the rest of the guys, they had to cancel, they had other stuff come up."

"Huh? Really?" Zhang Li was disappointed that there were less people he could show off his shoes to.

Chen Su stared at Ye Fan. 

Ye Fan felt embarrassed by Chen Su's gaze, so he said he was going to go to the toilet and quickly went inside the theatre building. 

Zhang Li sighed looking at their paltry crew, "Too bad everyone couldn't make it."

"Idiot. He obviously told them not to show up." Chen Su couldn't take it anymore. 

"Huh? Who?"

"Of course it's Ye Fan. He just wanted to invite Jing Yao, obviously everything else is just an excuse." Chen Su explained.

"Hmph!" Zhang Li didn't like his tone, "Then why are you still here?"

"Hehe, of course I can't miss today, why do I care if his love life goes well?"

Chen Su continued in a mocking voice, "Obviously you're the only one who doesn't realise."

Zhang Li was embarrassed, he retorted while gesturing toward Lin Yuan, "He didn't realise either."

Lin Yuan, who had been listening quietly to the whole conversation, looked up at this moment. He cast a disdainful glance toward Zhang Li and then went back to looking at his phone.

"..."

"Dammit Ye Fan!" Zhang Li decided he was going to grill this idiot when he came back.

So when Ye Fan came back a few minutes later, he had to get reprimanded for a while. It was only after he promised to pay for Zhang Li's meals for the next month that he was let off. 

Ye Fan glanced at the dwindling balance in his account, and then thinking of all the bribes he had to pay for today, he started sweating. But then he shook his head and thought seriously: this is all for love!

He glanced at Chen Su and Lin Yuan. Seeing that they weren't paying attention, he whispered to Zhang Li, "Boss Zhang about what you said before…it's done right?"

Zhang Li was thinking happily about how much free food he was going to get when his thoughts were suddenly brought back to reality. "Huh? What are you talking about?"

"Remember, Boss, you said you would ask Zhang Yin about bringing Jing Yao. You did ask her right?" Ye Fan was worried.

"Oh that, of course I did, of course I did!" Zhang Li quickly reassured him, and then advised him seriously, "Have some patience, don't be too eager, girls don't like that." 

Seeing Ye Fan was placated Zhang Li breathed a sigh of relief. But Zhang Li was troubled, he wondered if it was too late to ask Zhang Yin now…

It was almost five minutes to the appointed time when the girls finally showed up.

"..." Chen Su had a dark face looking at the three girls, "Where's everyone else?"

Liu Wei twirled her hair awkwardly and explained, "Some of the other girls suddenly had plans so they couldn't make it."

Chen Su shook his head. What were these guys even doing?

So far only Cao Wen, Liu Wie and Zhang Yin had shown up. 

Liu Wei had on an elegant long white dress. Her hair was intricately put up and she was clearly wearing makeup.

Meanwhile, Cao Wen and Zhang Yin were much more casual. Zhang Yin had put down hair and was wearing jeans and a shirt with a denim top. Without her gold framed glasses, she looked like a fresh and vibrant youth.

"Wait, why are you here? And why do you look so strange, Zhang Yin? Haha!" Zhang Li couldn't help but mock her.

"Thwack!"

"Hey, hey, don't kick me!" Zhang Li quickly stepped back and hid behind Lin Yuan while rubbing his ankle. "What a violent girl…"

Zhang Yin put her foot down and said calmly "Why can't I be here? Anyway Chen Su invited me."

"Aha, I didn't think you'd come class monitor, I'm grateful!" Chen Su was finally excited, he wanted to go to the theatre immediately, "Why don't we go inside since everyone is here?"

Ye Fan glanced at Zhang Li and couldn't help but speak up, "Wait-"

However, before he could say anything more, Zhnag Yin interrupted, "Jing Yao hasn't come yet…Ah she's here!" Zhang Yin waved her hand at a figure who was walking briskly through the crowd. 

A few moments later, Jing Yao arrived in front of everyone. She was out of breath, clearly she had been rushing. 

Liu Wei was the first to greet her, "Yaoyao, you made it!" She took Jing Yao's arm naturally. 

"Sorry, sorry, am I late?"

"No, no, it's fine, you're right on time. Actually, we were early." Ye Fan quickly reacted. He couldn't help but glance at Zhang Li gratefully. 

Zhang Li didn't really understand what was happening but he was glad his free lunches were safe. He was in a good mood.

"Hey, you are wearing your uniform like him." He said while gesturing to Lin Yuan.

Jing Yao was also wearing her school uniform.

"Ah, because I have to go to cram school after this." She explained. 

Everyone turned to Lin Yuan who had a calm face. 

"Don't think too much, this kid is just too lazy to wear anything else." Zhang Li explained, then he had a surprised expression, "Wait, doesn't that mean you two are matching?!"

"..." Everyone fell silent.

"Not really, I mean the uniforms are different…" Ye Fan quickly retorted.

"Of course I know that, I was just saying." Zhang Li shaked his head at this fool.

The mood was a little awkward. 

Chen Su sighed, "Why don't we go inside first?" He felt like he made a mistake coming to this.
