'Didn't Ning Rongrong know that Ning Tian already had a girlfriend? That shameless woman.' Oscar's thoughts twisted from affection to bitterness as he stared at her.

He turned to Tang San, his tone resolute. "Little San, we have to beat the New Heaven Dou Team."

"Not that easy," Ma Hongjun mumbled, his face sour.

The rest of the Shrek Team looked just as grim. None of them thought they stood a chance against the New Heaven Dou Team. Ning Tian had taken down the Elephant Armor Academy single-handedly, after all. If that odd, pale golden lightning struck them, their lighter builds wouldn't hold up half as well as those bulky opponents.

"We can win."

Tang San's voice broke through the gloom, offering what felt like a shaky dose of encouragement. He stood up slowly. "Ning Tian's fourth soul skill is strong, no doubt. In raw power, it might even top mine and Mubai's Evil Eyes Green Tiger fusion. But it's got a catch; its range is short."

"I paid attention earlier. That golden lightning only reaches about ten meters. If we spread out, he can't hit us all at once."

"Plus, the stronger the skill, the more soul power it burns. Without a food-type Spirit Master to back him up, Ning Tian can't use a ten-thousand-year skill like that more than once or twice before he's drained."

"And are we weak? Let's not even count mine and Mubai's fusion skill for now, Yu Tianheng's Blue Electric Tyrant Dragon matches Ning Tian's lightning head-on. Don't forget, Tianheng, your martial soul is the top beast type in the world. Ning Tian's just got a wood-type martial soul with a lightning soul ring stacked on."

"Then there's Ning Tao. His Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda is the best support martial soul out there, and he's a Spirit Ancestor. He can boost our strength, speed, soul power, and defense by fifty percent. Sure, the New Heaven Dou Team has a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda too, but Ning Rongrong is younger and less experienced. She's likely still a Spirit Elder, missing the defense boost and giving ten percent less across the board."

"Most importantly, we've got Xiao Wu. Her fourth soul skill, Invincible True Body, makes her untouchable. That alone can counter Ning Tian's big move."

"On top of that, we've got five Spirit Ancestors—me, Mubai, Tianheng, Xiao Wu, and Ning Tao. They've only got four: Ning Tian, Zhu Zhuqing, and the Shi brothers. With all these edges, I don't see how we lose."

Tang San's words lit a spark in the team, even if they carried a hint of wishful thinking. The Shrek crew bought it, their confidence creeping back.

Only Xiao Wu and Ning Tao stayed quiet. Xiao Wu wouldn't turn on Ning Tian for Shrek's sake, and Ning Tao knew his sister Ning Rongrong had hit Spirit Ancestor too, her martial soul now evolved into the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. But that was a sect secret, so he just forced a small smile and went along.

Flender watched them rally under Tang San's pep talk, a grin tugging at his lips. "Good to see your fire back. Just don't go too hard on the Blue Tyrant Academy later. It's run by a friend of mine and the Grandmaster."

"Yes, sir," they replied. Yu Tianheng seemed to mean it, but the others, stuck in those ugly green uniforms and still stinging from the empire's snubs, weren't so agreeable. Tang San and Dai Mubai, especially, weren't in the mood to play nice. If the Blue Tyrant Academy pushed them, they'd push back hard.

......

Moments later, it was time for the Shrek Team to face the Blue Tyrant Academy.

Shrek's lineup: Tang San, Dai Mubai, Yu Tianheng, Xiao Wu, and three backups from the old Heaven Dou Imperial Academy secondary team. The Blue Tyrant Academy brought seven, led by Tai Long, grandson of the One Strength clan's chief.

"Wow, what a pretty girl."

Just like in the original story, Tai Long was hooked the second he saw Xiao Wu. One glance, and he couldn't peel his eyes away.

That set Tang San off. "What are you looking at?" he snapped, stepping in front of her.

"What's it to you, charcoal head? Back off, or I'll pound you," Tai Long shot back, brushing Tang San off. He flashed Xiao Wu a goofy, lovesick grin.

Grossed out, Xiao Wu turned to Tang San. "Black Bro, take him out. No holding back."

"Done," Tang San said, then leaned toward Dai Mubai. "Mubai, no mercy."

"Watch me," Dai Mubai replied, already eager to let loose. Tai Long had just painted a target on his back.

From the sidelines, Ning Tian took it all in, a sly smile forming. 'Blue Tyrant Academy's in trouble now. But Tang San's not walking away clean either.' He decided to hit Tang San with a new, fast-acting laxative after the match, something he hadn't used in a while.

The referee stepped onto the stage, looking bored compared to the last round. "Preliminary match two, begin."

Both teams called up their martial souls. The Blue Tyrant Academy's seven all sported two yellow and one purple soul ring—no Spirit Ancestors. Shrek had four: Tang San, Dai Mubai, Xiao Wu, and Yu Tianheng, plus three Spirit Elders from the secondary team.

The power gap was glaring, and the Blue Tyrant crew froze.

"Move!" Tang San orderd. While the other side hesitated, Shrek charged.

Dai Mubai took the lead, his first and third soul rings lighting up as he rushed in. Xiao Wu and Yu Tianheng followed, the three backups piling on their own attacks.

The Blue Tyrant team shook off their shock, fear flickering as they summoned their martial souls and met the assault.

But before they could get close, Tang San's fourth soul ring glowed. Three Blue Silver Prisons shot up, caging Tai Long and two others.

Dai Mubai leaped skyward, unleashing his fourth soul skill, White Tiger Meteor Shower. The barrage slammed into the trapped trio, knocking them out cold.

Caught in Dai Mubai's White Tiger Meteor Shower alongside Tai Long were Yuan and Jing Ling; two Spirit Masters from the original story, a lone wolf and a skeleton type. Both hovered around level thirty-five, one a power attacker, the other speed-focused, with decent martial souls.

But pinned by Tang San's Blue Silver Prison and outclassed by a soul ring tier, they were sitting ducks. Dai Mubai's wide-range skill hit them point-blank, and they passed out fast.

Tai Long, a pure strength-type Spirit Master, clung to consciousness. Then Xiao Wu blinked in close, skipping her charm trick. A solid kick launched him skyward, followed by a relentless combo of throws that kept him spinning for half a minute before he crashed down.

The rest of the Blue Tyrant team didn't fare much better. Yu Tianheng zapped their support Spirit Master, Jiang Zhu, with his first skill, Thunder Dragon Claw. Then Tang San's Spider Web Restraint snagged the last three. On his signal, the secondary team's trio unloaded their skills, hammering the trapped opponents.

Screams rang out across the stage, one after another.

"Stop! We give up!" The Blue Tyrant Academy's teacher, seeing no end to the beatdown, tossed out a white cloth and bolted onstage to halt Tang San's crew.

The referee snapped. "Enough. The Shrek Team wins."

The Shrek Team pulled back, their sharp stares sweeping the crowd, daring anyone to call them weak.

Flender watched with a wry smile, head aching. Against any other team, he'd feel fine but this was Liu Erlong's academy. Explaining this mess to her would be rough.

...

The audience was stunned by Shrek's raw power, though Ning Tian's earlier show had softened the impact compared to the original story. Still, Shrek had their moment until it all fell apart.

While everyone's eyes were glued to the stage, Ning Tian slipped a laxative from his pocket. Stronger than last time, it'd hit Tang San before he could even react. He popped it into his mouth, faking a thoughtful look, and swallowed, passing the effect along.

"Referee, I demand a penalty! This isn't a match, it's a slaughter!" the Blue Tyrant teacher yelled, livid at the thrashing his students took.

Tang San smirked. "Simple question: are they dead?"

The teacher stumbled, but before he could reply, Tang San's gut twisted hard.

'Not now…' he thought, panic rising. He bolted for the competitors' tunnel, counting on years of grit to hold it until he found a quiet spot.

But he was wrong….very wrong.

Before the crowd could blink, Tang San vaulted off the stage. Mid-air, a thunderous fart ripped through the silence. A thick mess filled his pants, seeping through his underwear and soaking his green uniform, spilling out the cuffs.

The sky streaked with jagged, greenish-brown lines.

A stench rolled over the arena. The audience and other teams were far enough to dodge it, but the referee, the Blue Tyrant teacher, and both squads weren't so lucky. The downed Blue Tyrant members caught the worst of it, splattered directly, while the referee gagged, hit square in the face.

Only Xiao Wu, with her teleportation, slipped away in time.

"Ugh, it stinks!" Everyone onstage pinched their noses, reeling from the smell.

The referee, plastered with it, threw up on the spot.

A hush fell, then laughter exploded.

"Haha! No wonder they look like they crawled out of a sewer!"

"Look, the ref got it in the face and puked!"

"Shrek and Blue Tyrant both got hit. Forget Shrek, call them Shit-Lake!"

The jeers spread from the stands to the VIP seats and the other teams' areas.

Prince Xue Xing, after a stunned pause, cackled. "Bishop Sect Master Ning, this is your prized team? They are strong but that martial soul quirk….shitting in public? Good thing I didn't let them represent Heaven Dou's secondary squad."

Ning Fengzhi's face darkened, and Bishop bowed his head, mortified. Tang San hadn't just shamed himself and Shrek but he'd dragged them down too.
