Chapter 52: The Escape Plan

"Target confirmed."

"Eliminate all intruders."

The cold, mechanical voice echoed through the laboratory. Red warning lights flashed wildly, illuminating the black-armored soldiers wielding rifles pulsing with eerie blue energy. Their faces were hidden behind holographic visors, unreadable and emotionless.

Hiss—

A shot fired. A blue energy bolt cut through the air, filling the room with the acrid scent of ionized metal.

"Walau eh, we are so screwed!" Ah Rong's voice cracked as he stumbled backward, his flashlight shaking violently.

Lin Han didn't hesitate. He grabbed Noya's wrist and bolted.

"Run!"

BANG! BANG! BANG!

More shots whizzed past them, leaving glowing scorch marks on the walls.

The bullets weren't normal.

If they got hit, they wouldn't just be wounded—they'd be vaporized.

They needed to escape. Fast.

Lin Han's eyes darted around the lab, searching for a way out.

Then—he saw it.

A drainage system beneath the floor grating.

If they could squeeze through, they might just escape.

"There!" He yanked Noya toward it.

Ah Rong's face contorted in horror. "Tiu leh! You want us to crawl through a sewer?!"

"Either that or die," Lin Han growled, kicking open the metal grating.

Noya didn't hesitate—she dropped down first, vanishing into the dark pipe. Lin Han followed immediately, with Ah Rong cursing as he squeezed in last.

BOOM—!

The moment they slipped inside, a blue plasma shot struck the grating, melting it into molten slag.

That was too close.

Inside the narrow pipe, the air was thick with rust and dampness. A thin layer of stagnant water sloshed beneath them, reflecting faint beams of light from above.

Noya grimaced, trying not to imagine what kind of creatures lived in these pipes.

"G.T.G isn't just making Sleeper experiments. They're controlling something bigger." Her voice was hushed.

Lin Han's expression darkened. "They're maintaining something."

Ah Rong, panting behind them, spat, "They're maintaining my damn funeral! These guys are trying to kill us!"

Lin Han didn't respond.

Deep down, he knew.

Destroying the ritual wasn't the end—it was just the beginning.

After crawling for what felt like forever, they saw it—

A faint white glow ahead.

Noya felt hope stir in her chest. She crawled faster. "The exit! We're almost out!"

But as she reached the opening—she froze.

Lin Han, right behind her, saw her shoulders stiffen. Something was wrong.

Then he heard a voice.

A voice they were not supposed to hear.

"You've finally arrived."

His blood turned ice cold.

That voice did not belong to the G.T.G soldiers.

It belonged to The Sleeper.

Lin Han snapped his head up toward the exit.

A figure stood there, back facing them.

A man in a long gray trench coat, head slightly bowed, fingers holding a faded old photograph.

The photo was of a familiar place—

Kek Lok Si Temple.

Lin Han's mind snapped.

Who was this man? And why was he holding a photo of the temple?

But more importantly…

Why did he look exactly like the Sleeper they had just destroyed?

Noya's breath hitched. "Lin Han… this isn't P02."

Lin Han's jaw tightened.

He knew.

Because this was P01.

The true awakened one.
