More Questions

Mirelah;

Everyone else seems to know what's going on, and despite being the clueless one, I'm in the middle of everything.

If anyone can give me answers, it's him. I must get answers.

I must understand why he's done this to me! With one annoyed huff, I wipe my tears angrily and begin to match in the direction he went. I walk down a hallway laden with doors on both sides, but my legs are marching for the one right ahead. I am almost there when one of the ladies who have been following me speaks.

"My lady, please don't go in there. "

I stop in my tracks and turn to look at her.

"Why? "I demand, and she looks away.

"It's… Private. Prince Kealith never lets anyone in there. Not even his family. "She replies, and I take a second to process the words. I turn back to the door and stare at it in wonder. What does Kealith do in there? What's he hiding??

The door suddenly opens, and Kealith steps out. He freezes when he sees me, and I see his head tilt slightly. He looks down at the dress I'm in, and then back at my face with a bit of… curiosity. It's frustrating how I can never read his face or tell what he's thinking.

"What brings you here? "He questions as he shuts the door, and I sniffle before taking a step towards him.

"We need to talk. "I reply, and he exhales. He raises a hand, and when I turn around, the ladies behind me bow and begin to walk away.

"Come with me. "His smooth, heavy voice says, and I swallow before following him. He leads me through a few corners, and we arrive at a massive, garden. He keeps walking and I follow him in silence. Staring at his cape which has the Blood Crescent sigil.

He finally stops at a pergola.

"Is the private enough? "He questions, as we step in, but I don't care about privacy.

"Why did you insist on marrying me? "I question, and I see his once relaxed shoulders stiffen.

He turns around to look at me, and I fold my hands across my chest.

"Your family clearly doesn't like me, so why did you force this on them? I wasn't eager to get married you know? You got me dragged from the solitude of my house into a place I wouldn't be welcome? Don't you think that's a bit cruel? "I rage, and he raises a brow at me.

"Did someone say something? "He questions, and I scoff.

"Does it matter? If they say it or not, they're at least thinking it! "I retort, and he sighs.

"Kealith, I feel lost! I don't know what's happening. Before yesterday, I was so certain that I'd never met you before and that I'd never left home. I meet you, and all of a sudden I'm having flashbacks of things I never remembered before now… "I begin to rant with my facade of strength breaking and tears falling from my eyes.

"They said I'm not fit to be queen… Why am I being Queen when I'm marrying the youngest son? What past do we share? What marriage rituals do I not have the stomach for? What… What curse do you have? "I speak further, and I see something shift in Kealith's eyes.

"I need answers, Kealith… Everything is happening so fast, I don't understand. Let me go home… I'm not fit to be queen. I've never been. Azra and Daven can get married, you can marry another girl and… "I begin, but he cuts me off.

"It has to be you! "He replies, and I jerk at the annoyance in his voice.

"I don't know how you could forget but when you were eleven years old, you made me take a blood oath. You made me swear by blood that I'd marry you no matter what. You said your father was trying to keep us apart, and you didn't want to lose me. "He says, and my jaw drops in shock.

"I was a child! "

"I was 15! "He retorts, and I gulp, and everything begins to crash down on me.

"So you… You only married me cause you have no other choice? "I manage to ask… The mere thought of it breaking me.

"I never said that. "He replies, and I bite my lower lip to hold back sobs, as I stare at him. I don't know if to believe that or not.

I can't remember us taking any oath or me asking him to take the oath, but I don't think he's lying. If I started all this… Can't I end it?

"Can't we break the oath? "I question, and he snaps his head at me like I just slapped him across the face.

"No, we can't break a blood oath, Mirelah, that's not how it works! "He replies, and I blink at him in shock. Why is he suddenly angry?

"Do you love someone else? "He then questions out of the blue, and I blink at him in confusion.

"Are you seeing someone? Is that why you're so desperate to get away from me? "He questions as he steps towards me, and I back away in fright.

"What? No…. I… "I begin, and he stops just a few inches away from me. He scoffs as he looks away, and I watch him with my chest rising and falling in fear.

"You will get married to me, Mirelah. You will be my wife, and you will be the queen of Blood Crescent. My mother will put you through on the premarriage rituals. You're my choice and that's all that matters. "He speaks coldly, and I blink at him in fear.

He casts one long look at me, before flinging his cape and marching away from me. Leaving me confused and with more questions than I initially had.

What is my life about to become? Why are the suddenly so many mysteries and questions? And how do I get answers?
