Jannie's Pov
New York
"I can't believe Dorian Could do this. What was he thinking?" Jannie complained to her best friend, Jessie, while applying ruby-red lipstick.
"He wasn't thinking, honey. Honestly, he's not worth it anymore. This is the fourth time he's cheated on you, and I don't think he's capable of changing—not even for you, love."
Jessie gave her a knowing look, and Jannie understood what it meant; it was time to dump Dorian and move on.
"I know. I'm just so disappointed. We had such a good first year together..." Jannie stuttered.
"I get it. But it hasn't been good since then. You're the type who thrives on feelings and closeness, and Dorian seems to have become the opposite," Jessie replied.
Jannie sighed, "Yes, I need to get over it. But let's put Dorian aside and focus on tonight. Where's the party?" She smacked her lips together and let the lipstick sink in.
"We have several options: Mark is having a get-together before Euphoria opens at midnight, or there's Jennie's classic staying-home party. I also have an invitation to the opening of a new club uptown called Twilight."
"No to Mark; Dorian will be there, and Jennie's party is boring. That just leaves us with the club opening?" Jannie turned to face Jessie.
"Sounds fun! But I guess we're stopping by Mark's on the way so you can talk to Dorian before we go to the party?" Jessie asked.
Jannie nodded. "Yes, it's better to get it over with!" She sighed and ran her fingers through her blonde curls.
"Should I wear the red dress or the blue one tonight?" Jessie asked, holding both dresses up.
"The blue compliments your eyes, and the red suits your tanned skin," Jannie replied.
Jessie frowned at the response. "Looks like sexy skin it is, then!" She declared as she tossed the blue dress onto the bed.
"I'm going with the little black dress," Jannie replied, and Jessie winked at her.
"The revenge dress! I like your thinking, girl! You should match it with those black, glittery, strappy heels!" Jessie continued excitedly as she pulled the zipper up on her dress.
Jessie was a bombshell. Her platinum hair fell just below her breasts, and she had an hourglass figure with ample curves. Men constantly swarmed around her, and they rarely had to spend a dollar on drinks when clubbing.
Jannie had a more 'the girl next door' look, which she liked. She knew she looked good, but she didn't have the same effect as Jessie had on men.
She oozed confidence, and her charisma could get her whatever she wanted.
They met as roommates during their first year in college and decided to rent an apartment together in NYC after graduating.
Jannie studied to become a doctor and began medical school this fall. Jessie has a degree in psychology, but she's going to the university to get her bachelor's degree.
"Let us make a toast to new beginnings! No more douchy college boys!" Jessie exclaimed as she handed Jannie a vodka shot. They clinked their glasses together before taking a drink. Jannie grimaced as she felt the burn as it went down her throat.
"Woooooouuu!" she shouted, and Jessie poured her another shot. "Let's get drunk!"
They took a few more shots before leaving, where a taxi was waiting across the street.
"Please take us to 111 Crosby Street," Jessie said as she gracefully slid into the car. Jannie noticed the driver sneak a glance under her dress. "Hey! Eyes on the road!" She shouted, feeling a bit too aggravated. The driver mumbled an apology before starting to drive.
"So, no men tonight—just a fun, wild girls' night out! I can't wait to see this club. I heard it's super luxurious," Jessie continued, chatting throughout the entire car ride. She was chatty drunk.
"We're almost here. Should I call Dorian to come down, or should I just go up there?"
"You're not going up there!" Jessie said, raising her eyebrows.
"Right!" Jannie replied, making the call, fully aware that she would be unable to turn back once she did.
"Oh my God. There he is. He looks good, doesn't he?" Jannie said nervously, and Jessie narrowed her eyes.
"Hey! Remember, you're dumping him! He's a jerk who cheated on you; he looks terrible."
"You're right!" Jannie mumbled, climbing out of the car and almost tripping on the sidewalk.
She could hear Jessie laughing at her as she closed the door.
"You okay, babe?" Dorian asked as he walked over to Jannie. She straightened her dress and leaned back, trying to remember what she was supposed to say.
"Dorian, I'm not your babe anymore." She gave him a stern look, but his confused expression made her laugh out loud instead.
"What are you saying, Jannie?" Dorian replied, and she stumbled when she tried to stand up straight. "I'm saying that you're an asshole, and I deserve better. You, Dorian, Are one cheating, lying bastard. We're over!"
"Yeah, right. Call me when you're sober," Dorian stated as he took a step closer. "No!" Jannie shouted and shoved him away when he tried to hug her.
"I mean it this time. We're over," Jannie said in a serious tone. They stood there, staring at each other for a moment, and she could tell Dorian understood that she wouldn't forgive him this time. He had strung her along for three years—lying, cheating, and manipulating Jannie into forgiving him time after time.
"Goodbye, Dorian," She whispered. Jannie turned around and climbed back into the car.
"Gosh, that was harder than I thought," She said anxiously. Jessie pulled her into a hug.
"It's for the best," she said, smiling. Jannie nodded, swallowing the tears.
"What's the next destination, girls?" the driver asked.
"Take us to Club Twilight!" Jannie replied, inhaling deeply. They had been over for a long time, but she never had the strength to end it until now. Deep down, Jannie was still hoping he would turn back to the guy she fell in love with. But she knew that the person she loved wasn't the real him—just a facade he used to lure her into his web of lies.
