With a light jog, Doflamingo finally arrived at the place that was both familiar and foreign. It was near the sea, the air thick with the stench of garbage – the place where he and his brother had once scavenged for scraps, only to be brutally beaten. He looked at the low, dilapidated house before him and, without hesitation, pushed open the door. Inside, he saw the once-most-familiar faces of the Donquixote Family: Trebol, Pica, Diamante, and Vergo.
"Ne-ne, what? You're saying everyone fainted?" Trebol asked, surprised. Doflamingo nodded. "That was Haki. Conqueror's Haki, to be precise. It's proof that one possesses the qualities of a king. Doflamingo, you are a man chosen by the heavens!" Doflamingo, already knowing this would happen, didn't say much. Trebol then produced a pistol and a Devil Fruit, slamming them heavily onto the table with a duang. "If you're a man, then test yourself. Is there someone you want to kill? Do you want me to grant you the power of revenge?"
Hearing this, Doflamingo chuckled. "Fuffuffuffu... Someone I want to kill? There are as many as there are mountains!" Doflamingo knew that Trebol was testing his courage. Without another word, he grabbed the pistol from the table and walked over to his father and brother.
"My foolish father, you threw away your own power with your own hands. You couldn't even protect your own family. When you die, I will take your head back to the Holy Land."
Homing held Rosinante close and said softly, "Doflamingo, Rosinante, I'm sorry for being such a father to you." Doflamingo hesitated for a moment. After all, this was his biological father, and in his previous life, he had been a law-abiding citizen. A sliver of pity and emotion lingered in his heart, delaying his action. He gripped the gun tightly, his body trembling uncontrollably.
"Doflamingo, what are you hesitating for? You are a born king!" Trebol suddenly appeared with his three subordinates, shouting, "Go! End your weakness with your own hands! Do you want to go back to living the way you did before? Ne-ne, go!"
Hearing this, Doflamingo cast aside the last shred of hesitation. He thought of everything he had suffered, of this dark and hopeless world. Weakness was the most useless thing. He raised his hand, devoid of emotion, and aimed at his father. Finally, he pulled the trigger.
"I have personally cut away the weakness I inherited from you. I'm sorry, Father. You... were in my way. The weak can't accomplish anything great. Thank you for everything you've given me. I will live well. I will live a very good life. I will become king and make this world tremble before me!" Doflamingo roared, his Conqueror's Haki bursting forth uncontrollably. The invisible pressure brought smiles of delight to Trebol and the others. Rosinante, witnessing everything, cried and cried until he was shaken unconscious.
"Ne-ne, well done, Doffy! You are a born king! Come, eat this Devil Fruit, and you will possess the power to surpass all others!" Trebol eagerly presented the Ito String-String Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit, to Doflamingo, his eyes full of anticipation.
"A Devil Fruit, huh? This is the String-String Fruit, a Paramecia type, right?" Doflamingo said in a low voice.
"That's right. Once you eat this fruit, you'll possess the abilities granted by a devil," Trebol readily answered. Doflamingo shook his head. "I don't think much of this fruit. Since I'm a king, I should have the abilities that befit a king. It's not worthy of me." Doflamingo's answer took Trebol and the others by surprise. After a long pause, Diamante finally spoke, "Th-then, Doffy, what fruit do you want? Devil Fruits are inherently hard to come by. We only managed to obtain this one with great difficulty."
"My ambition is far greater than this," Doflamingo said, ignoring their question and speaking to himself. "I don't just want to become king; I want to become a god, a god who controls the human world, the master of this sea! Are you willing to help me realize my ambition?" His Conqueror's Haki surged towards Trebol and the others once more.
Facing this Conqueror's Haki, which was even stronger than before, Trebol and the others felt a surprising strain. While secretly astounded by Doflamingo's aptitude and spirit, a surge of boldness rose from within them. "Ne-ne, alright, Doffy! You truly are a born king! I, Trebol, am willing to help you, to die alongside your ambition! From today on, you are our Young Master!" Before Diamante and the others could react, Trebol dropped to one knee before Doflamingo, secretly congratulating himself for betting on the right horse.
Seeing Trebol kneel, Diamante and the others followed suit without hesitation, each respectfully proclaiming:
"Diamante, willing to die for the Young Master's ambition!"
"Pica, willing to die for the Young Master's ambition!"
"Vergo, willing to die for the Young Master's ambition!"
"Fuffuffuffu!"
With Diamante, Trebol, and the others pledging their allegiance, Doflamingo's laughter became even more unrestrained, his Conqueror's Haki surging even stronger.
Trebol and the others remained kneeling. After a long while, the laughter finally subsided, as if nothing had happened, and everything returned to silence.
"From now on, you will be proud of the decision you made today. From this day forward, you are my family. Fuffuffuffu!"
Trebol and the others exchanged glances, their eyes filled with determination, silently vowing, "The Young Master will surely become king."
"Family, huh? Doffy, we're family now!" Pica said happily.
Diamante murmured, "Family... that's not bad."
Only Vergo remained silent, but his face was resolute.
"Fuffuffuffu! That's right! From today on, we are the godly family – Donquixote! Let's turn this world upside down together!" Doflamingo declared with imposing presence.
From this day forward, a family that would make the seas tremble was born. Its name was – Donquixote.
