Today was a day unlike any other for Enel. Today, he saw a person without wings. That's right, someone just like him, without wings – a boy not much younger than himself.
He stood there, a trace of regret on his face, asking Enel if he wanted revenge. Asking if he was content with how things were. He even called Enel a coward!
These words stirred a maelstrom of emotions within Enel.
"I'm not content! I want revenge! I want to kill them all! But… do I really have that kind of power right now? What do you know? I'm not a coward! You don't know anything, yet you run your mouth!" Enel roared inwardly.
"Hey, you brat, where'd you come from? Don't you know where you are?"
"Revenge? From Enel? Hahaha, that's hilarious!"
"I'm standing right here. Does he even dare to make a move?"
"Kid, let us teach you a lesson today!"
The four winged men were shouting boisterously, but Doflamingo didn't even glance at them. His eyes were fixed solely on Enel, awaiting his answer.
"Hey, hey, hey, what are you trying to pull, wearing sunglasses? You looking for a beating?"
"Are you mute? Can't you hear us?"
"What are you even trying to do here?"
"You need a good thrashing, don't you? Brothers, let's do this!"
The four winged men, unable to endure Doflamingo's disregard any longer, finally snapped. They couldn't tolerate such disrespect, especially since this wingless brat was ignoring them, the supposed descendants of gods. To them, it was an unforgivable insult.
Their pathetically slow fists flew towards Doflamingo, who remained unfazed.
Seeing this, Enel, out of a sense of goodwill, called out a warning, "Dodge!"
The faces of the four winged men lit up with excitement, as if they could already see Doflamingo groaning in pain beneath their fists.
While the four were lost in their daydreams of beating both Enel and Doflamingo to a pulp, the attacks connected. In an instant, the four were sent flying in four different directions, crashing to the ground with a resounding thud.
Enel stared at the scene, his jaw practically dropping in astonishment.
"So fast… so strong! I didn't even see him move!" Enel muttered under his breath.
"Now then, with those annoying flies out of the way, are you going to give me your answer?" Doflamingo asked casually, looking at Enel, who was still sprawled on the ground.
Without a glance at the four downed winged men, and hearing Doflamingo's words, Enel struggled deeply within himself. "If I had that kind of power, I could have my revenge…"
"Cowardly acts will not be tolerated! If you want revenge, take it yourself! You coward!" Doflamingo boomed, playing the role of a mentor.
"I… I'm not a coward! I want revenge! I want it every second of every day! I want to kill those people!"
Hearing Doflamingo's deafening voice, Enel could no longer hold back his tears. He cried out, venting his pent-up emotions. For so many years, he had endured countless insults and beatings, living like a bug with no dignity. He was done. He was done with this wretched world. Rather than living such a cowardly existence, waiting for a chance at revenge that might never come, he'd rather join this boy, who seemed so much like him, and take his revenge now.
Once the flames of vengeance are ignited, they will never be extinguished until every last enemy is annihilated.
Although the fire of revenge had been thoroughly ignited within him, Enel was also acutely aware that he didn't yet possess the necessary power. He was still no match for the gods.
Enel looked at the boy, who was about his age, with a hopeful gaze. If he was this strong, then revenge might not be an impossible dream! With this thought, Enel collected himself and stood up.
Doflamingo looked at Enel. His hair was wrapped in a white headscarf, and long earlobes dangled before his chest. Despite his battered appearance, he didn't lack a certain spirit.
The two stared at each other. Finally, Enel broke the silence.
"You're not from Birka, are you? I've never seen you before."
"Oh! You're quite perceptive," Doflamingo replied, his interest piqued.
"You're like a frog at the bottom of a well in this place. The world is vast."
Hearing Doflamingo's response, Enel's spirits soared, and he looked at Doflamingo with anticipation.
"You… you're from Fairy Vearth, aren't you? Can you tell me how to get there?"
"Fuffuffuffu, don't get the wrong idea, kid. I'm not from Fairy Vearth." Doflamingo chuckled loudly at Enel's expectant look.
"You're not? Then why are you like me?" Enel asked, somewhat disappointed.
"I may not be from Fairy Vearth, but I am from the true earth. I haven't been to Fairy Vearth, but I've heard of it."
Enel, who had been on the verge of despair, was instantly reignited with hope.
"Really? Can you tell me how to get to Fairy Vearth?"
Seeing Enel's obsession with Fairy Vearth, Doflamingo found it quite amusing.
"The Fairy Vearth you speak of is right above your head, on the moon. If you want to go there, of course, you have to fly," Doflamingo explained.
Enel, upon hearing the definitive answer, wasn't particularly surprised. He thought to himself, "As expected, Fairy Vearth isn't so easy to reach. Then there's only one way: I need the Ark Maxim to get there."
"But, do you really think Fairy Vearth is such a great place?" Doflamingo, sensing Enel's inner thoughts, guessed that the boy was probably already planning how to reach Fairy Vearth.
"What… what do you mean?" Enel asked, puzzled.
"You know that the sky islanders were originally moon people, right? The moon is what you call the Fairy Vearth. But do you know why the moon people left the perfectly good moon and came here?"
Doflamingo continued when Enel didn't interrupt.
"It's because the moon is now a desolate wasteland. Your ancestors couldn't survive there anymore, so they fled. They fled their former city of Birka, their home. They fled here, to this place, to eke out a meager existence. Do you really think they're gods?"
Doflamingo's words caused a tidal wave of shock in Enel's heart. He couldn't believe that the Fairy Vearth he had longed for was actually like this. He couldn't accept it.
"No… It's impossible… You're lying!"
"Whether you accept it or not, the truth is the truth. Besides, your enemies are still here. Is it really okay for you to be hesitating like this?"
Doflamingo's words were like a sudden enlightenment, instantly snapping Enel back to reality.
"That's right… I can't do anything right now. Even if it's a lie, what can I do?"
"Do you want revenge? I can give you the power to take it."
Doflamingo's words were like the whispers of a devil, slowly tempting and enticing Enel, making him crave more.
"You? You're not much older than me! How can you give me power?" Enel asked, his gaze filled with doubt.
"Fuffuffuffu, I'm being underestimated, it seems. Come on, don't hold back. Attack me with everything you've got. Show me your power," Doflamingo said with a laugh, exuding an aura of dominance.
"Yahahahaha! Since you're so confident, let me see why you're so arrogant!" Enel also laughed, his previous dejection swept away, replaced by confidence and boldness.
"Another kid who hasn't been beaten down by society. Let me educate you."
Doflamingo was annoyed by Enel's cocky attitude. How dare he try to out-swagger me? I'll show him why the flowers are so red.
