Fight!

John watched the mutant zombie, casually dodging the flying guns, and continued to walk slowly toward the red-haired woman. In his mind, he calculated whether he should go up and take on this mutant zombie to snatch its evolutionary crystal!

Normally, John wouldn't stand a chance against a mutant zombie as fast as lightning, but now it was different. That mutant had taken a heavy shotgun blast from the red-haired woman—its leg was badly injured, and its movement was clearly slowed down!

If he missed this chance, there'd be no way to get a solo kill on this mutant. On the other hand, the odds would be even higher that the more advanced mutant would easily kill him!

Besides, that mutant zombie was distracted by having to deal with a desperate human, while John, hiding in the dark, could launch a surprise attack to boost his chances of success!

As for the red-haired woman, John had no interest in her at all and didn't care about whether she lived or died.

Holding his breath and focusing, John gripped his gleaming knife tightly. He was waiting for the perfect moment—a one-shot, one-kill opportunity to finish off that mutant zombie. And he knew there'd be only one shot like this!

If he let this mutant zombie get away injured, it might come back to seek endless revenge!

Elena had no room left to retreat; her back was pressed against the cold, hard brick wall, her spirit as crushed as if she were already dead.

The mutant zombie before her was incredibly strong—being hit by a shotgun wasn't even lethal! This wasn't just an ordinary human; its strength was on another level!

Her trembling hand gripped the combat knife, her palms sweating. Could a zombie, who couldn't even be killed by gunfire, really be taken down with this knife? What a joke!

Slowly, the mutant zombie inched closer, pressing its horrific face against the woman who, despite fighting with all her might, could barely hold her ground.

Honestly, Elena's courage far surpassed that of ordinary people. Even though this mutant was overwhelmingly powerful and escape from it was nearly impossible, she still plunged her combat knife forward in a desperate counterattack!

But that sharp combat knife, which could easily pierce thin sheets of metal, couldn't penetrate the thick, bloody flesh of the zombie!

Elena pressed herself against the cold wall; the one piece of weapon that gave her some sense of security—the combat knife—was swung away by the mutant zombie, sent flying far off!

"It's enjoying the look of fear on its prey before it starts its slaughter!" John thought, his eyes never leaving the mutant zombie's every move.

Soon enough, while the mutant zombie had its full attention on admiring the terrified expression of its prey, John silently charged forward and slammed into the mutant zombie, sending it flying!

Of course, it wasn't that simple. Even before the impact, John's gleaming knife had already slashed fiercely at the mutant zombie's throat—a "cut for a cut" in lethal fashion!

A terrible wail filled the air as the zombie's thick, unyielding muscle—immune to its usual stabs—was finally cut open, leaving a gash about six or seven centimeters long.

It seemed that it wasn't that the combat knife wasn't sharp enough, but that Elena's strength just wasn't sufficient.

Suddenly, the gray sky darkened as if a storm were about to hit. A small whirlwind kicked up piles of garbage on the ground as two zombies, separated by about five or six meters, stared coldly at each other.

The mutant zombie glanced up and looked over John, its eyes full of hatred and scorn despite the blood spraying from its throat.

John's heart grew heavy. He hadn't expected that after he had stealthily ambushed and badly injured the mutant zombie, it still wouldn't run! That meant it was absolutely confident in defeating him, not at all afraid of facing John—a "Butcher" zombie who had evolved twice!

But John remained expressionless, staring coldly at the lean mutant zombie before him.

"Since you're here, since we're at odds now, no matter how many levels you've got or how many 'Butcher' zombies you've killed, standing in front of me means today is your last day!"

With steel-like fangs and drooling saliva, John slowly raised his gleaming knife. His burning battle spirit almost made his blood boil! "Come on, you ugly bastard!" he challenged.

Seeing the mutant zombie, who was clearly shorter than him yet still daring to brandish its "knife" in a provocative gesture, the mutant exploded in rage. It bent its body slightly, curled its fingers into claws, and its sharp black nails shot out about three inches, quickly lunging at John!

It was so fast that no one could react in time!

Although John was on high alert, he still failed to block this strike!

Ten jet-black, sharp claws flashed like lightning, tearing through John's chest as he desperately retreated—leaving ten bloody holes that oozed dark clots!

That wasn't all—before John could react, the mutant's claw transformed into a fist and smashed into his chest with thunderous force. The sound of bones breaking was unmistakable!

His thin, withered body, packed with an unimaginable amount of strength, took the full force—like being hit by a truck! John's chest caved in, and he spewed black blood as he was thrown backward, tumbling more than ten meters away!

Glancing disdainfully at the fallen John, the mutant zombie barely spared him another look, then turned and stalked over to the collapsed Elena, its eyes now burning with desire!

A cold wind whipped over as the mutant's pupils rapidly contracted. In a flash, it bent at a 90-degree angle, narrowly dodging a gleaming knife that sliced through the air—and a few strands of withered yellow hair fell from its head!

The knife kept flying, whimpering as it spun out until its blade plunged deep into a French sycamore, nearly cleaving the tree in two!

Shaken, the mutant zombie turned its head, trembling as it stood up while spitting blood. It glared coldly at John, its eyes full of murderous rage!

"Damn it, I'm gonna crush you to pieces!" it roared. Despite dragging its injured right leg, the mutant slowly faded into the darkness.
