[MAVERICK]
"So, are we just going to pretend that your phone hasn't been buzzing all day and disrupting mu fucking ears and that if every other person in this fucking place?" Charles said. They were at the Hell Hotel, Mavn Charles, Ken and Zane, on the 22nd floor-The floor that didn't exist, and relaxing in the extra large suite while planning.
"I'm working right now. It's not important." Mav retorted.
"All of a sudden, your girlfriend isn't important?" Zane butted in and Mav scorned at him.
"What really happened? Come on." Charles asked.
"Charles–"
"Come on, man! Just spill it already. You've been moody all day and you have suggested one plan to handle the Milo brothers. We all hate it when you're moody. It's bad for the fucking business!"
"Fine! Kate's fucking pregnant!" Mav scolded, and everyone turned suddenly quiet.
"Well, fuck." Ken breathed.
"I didn't know. I don't...I don't even know how to go about it or what to think. I can't even wrap my head around it, man." Mav shook his head and puffed out some smoke.
"What were you thinking? Dad is going to lose his shit once he finds out!" Charles barked.
"You think I don't know that?"
"You have to talk to her." Zane said? but Mav immediately shrugged it off.
"I can't even be around her right now."
"Do you even love her?" Ken asked suddenly, and everyone raised their heads to meet his eyes.
"Love? Are you kidding me right now?" Charles shook his head at Ken before looking to Mav. "Mav, you have to find something to do about that baby."
"What do you mean find something to do about it?"
Charles silence to the question let the realisation finally dawn on everyone.
"He means an abortion!" Ken reported.
"What? An abortion? Man, that's fucking dicey, if not cruel." Zane said.
"He didn't mean an abortion." Mav said.
"Actually...I did."
"Charles! I'm not gonna kill a baby. My baby."
He stomach churned when he said it, but at least it was accompanied with a little sense of pride. For the first time he had own what was his out loud.
"Kill Kate then?" Charles said innocently, and every pair of eyes jerked up to face him again.
"Jesus Christ can everybody just chill? It was just a suggestion!" Charles said, dropping his hands noisily. "I'm just saying, that's sounds like a better option than Dad finding out. Especially now when it seems we have enemies we don't even know of. "
"I understand. Which is why no one's gonna tell him, not until I sort this out myself first."
"How are you going to do that?"
"I don't know Zane. Enough with the questions, okay?" Mav scoffed, and continued to smoke, looking away from them.
"Those people, that pack. They're up to something. " Maverick said after a while.
"What?"
"The Milo brothers' Charles. They're up to something."
"You just met them today. Cut them some slack."
"I know when something is up, Charles. Damn it! Didn't you see the look in their eyes? In Joseph's eyes?"
"I definitely saw that he locked eyes on you for a while. Are you sure you didn't meet him before this morning?"
Of course, Mav knew Charles wouldn't take this too seriously, that was why later that afternoon, after they had returned from meeting the Brothers, he had krdered Zane to do some little digging secretly around them. And he hoped he was right.
"I'm sure. But then, Agatha would have definitely told them about our meeting at Oakwoods."
Zane stepped down from the desk he had been sitting on.
"Relax, Mav. We're RiverHounds. There is literally nothing to be afraid of, we are the monsters of Grimden. " He said and patted Mav on the shoulder.
But Maverick was continuously unsettled. He trusted Zane with his orders, but he still couldn't help but think about Agatha and Joseph and Japhet. Something went on between them, something that wasn't going to benefit RiverHounds. And he was going to find out what it was.
But not after he spoke to Kate. He had done his worst by ignoring her all night and day. He couldn't even resist her back then, mostly because he was always too horny to have a working brain, but now, something else had engulfed him. There was no indication that he was horny or that missed her. It almost seemed like mating season was over for him.
Sighing, he stood up.
"I gotta go."
"Better be to settle it with Kate." Ken said.
"You mean handle it." Charles said.
Zane simply gave a wild chuckle and Mav rolled his eyes and dumped his smoke in the nearest bin, which was beside the door.
"Don't forget the party tonight. Club Nine. 10 p.m."
"I won't."
"Don't forget to have that make up sex." Ken said.
"Is that even possible to forget?"
As Charles's words hung in the air for only a moment, the room was suddenly awash with the contagious sounds of laughter. But the sound of it all was short-lived for Mav's hearing, as the door swung shut behind him, and he walked to the hallway, and towards the elevatore that took him to the first floor of Hell Hotel and eventually, out of the building.
