In the dark and gloomy cave there was a child sleeping when something startled him and he woke up with a defensive posture. Suddenly there was a loud sound outside the cave. Felix wasn't going to be stupid and just go out to check what was going on.
Before going to sleep he had created thin webs of mental power and surrounded the cave entrance. He wasn't dumb enough to sleep defenseless in a cave in this dangerous world where even the smallest dinosaurs were strong enough to kill him easily.
Using his power to investigate the sound outside he saw an unconscious black bird with two legs with strange feathers and an orange crown on his head. Its wings had black and white stripes. Since he had never seen such a strange creature Felix didn't know what it was called but it didn't matter what it was called since food had just been delivered to his door. He would be a hungry fool if he was too scared to go pick it up. Getting out of his cave after making sure there were no danger outside he went to pick up the strange bird. It was not dead yet so he used all his strength to twist the bird's neck. The bird woke up as he was struggling to twist its neck and wanted to attack him so he picked up a nearby stone and tried to hit its head.
After the fight there were bloody scratches on his arms and face where the bird had used his beak to bite him. The blood was not his alone. He was tired and hungry but Felix knew now was not the time to rest. He had to get rid of the blood and prepare the bird if he wanted to eat.
According to the original owner's memory there was a river nearby. One of the reason original owner had chosen to stay in this cave. Entering the cave he took the leather pouch and grabbed the bird along with the bloody stone he had used to kill the bird.
Using his powers, he checked the surroundings and walked in the direction of the river. After making sure it was safe he washed his hands and face and started to clean the bird and letting the river wash away the blood and dirt. Since he didn't have any sharp tools to cut he wasn't able to skin it properly. He was in a hurry to get away from here before some other predator came along and found the buy one get one free meal option. He refilled the water bag, made some preparations, cleaned his hand and gathered everything preparing to leave.
Hurrying back to the cave he found a place with some loose soil and made a hole and started a fire with the way he had been taught in army. He put half of the bird meat which he had wrapped with big leaves from a tree near the river and then covered the whole thing with mud like the dish beggar's chicken. He gathered some wood sticks from nearby and put it on top of the beggar's chicken so that it would be surrounded by fire and cooked properly. Then he inserted 2 y shaped sticks in opposite direction and put the stick which impaled the other half of the bird in the notch to cook over the fire.
He was salivating while making sure to rotate the stick every 10 minutes. After the bird was cooked Felix removed the sticks and put the bird on one of the big leaf he had bought. Feeling a little greedy he took a small piece and put it in his mouth. It was very hot and since there was no seasoning and nothing to remove the fishy smell and taste of the meat Felix decided to use the half fruit he had left for breakfast as seasoning. Bringing out the fruit he squeezed it a little so that the juice would flow on the roasted bird. Using his fingers, he coated the meat with the fruit juice. He took one more bite of the meat and found it tasted better than before. Felix wanted to eat everything but he knew he should eat in smaller quantities. This body had been starved and was surviving on half of the small fruit somehow. If he ate in large quantity his body might not be able to digest it and he might get sick. Right now he couldn't afford getting sick or hurt.
He had a plan. He had to somehow nourish his body and get out of the forest. There might be other tribes out there where he could stay till he could grow up. The tribe he was a part of was called wolf tribe as most of the members in the tribe were wolf beastmen. There were other beastmen there such as rhinoceros, deer and monkey. Felix had found that most people in the tribe didn't use any tool and the few who did use tools used sharpened stone or sharpened wood. They used stones pots for cooking. There were no iron or metal tools or utensils. So these people hadn't yet discovered metal.
Wrapping up the unfinished bird in the leaf he had used as a plate to eat later. He cleaned up the surroundings a little. Taking one more look at the beggar's chicken in the pit he saw that the fire had started to die due to the lack of wood he went inside the cave carrying the water bag, wrapped meat and the feathers of the bird.
Stacking up the feathers like a pillow he regretted not bringing the skin of the bird but it had been damaged due to improper cleaning with lack of tools. Sighing he sat down holding is stomach which had turned round after eating. Putting away all the things he closed his eyes and created webs using mental power and surrounded the entrance once again and entered his sea of consciousness. Except for his mental power the only thing that was there was Regis. His hand was still out hold a book as if to hand it to him.
Felix was still worried and disturbed due to yesterday's incident of devouring original owner's consciousness thinking that if he hadn't accidently devoured it whether the original owner would have had the chance to come back. Back at his home planet it wasn't possible to devour other people's mental strength or consciousness. When people fought using mental strength their powers would either get injured or they would deteriorate dropping their mental strength. When people died their sea of consciousness would disappear. There were so many mysteries regarding their sea of consciousness that researchers were still trying to find answers for.
Still worrying about what will happen if he grabbed the book he got out of his sea of consciousness. He didn't know why he was fixated on that book just like he didn't know why he had insisted on getting stronger or why he had insisted on researching space. There were so many questions and not a single person who could answer it. He had to find answers himself but he didn't know where to look for them. Maybe he could start searching by looking at the book Regis was holding but not yet. He had to wait for what he didn't know. He just had a gut feeling that it was not yet time to open the book. His gut feeling had saved him countless times on the battle field he wasn't about to ignore it now and so he waited.
