Kundan | S01 EP6 - Gaon par Kabja | चिट्ठी का राज़ |

My name is Kundan. It was nearly two weeks since I had come to my grandmother's village, but I hadn't made a single friend other than Rajveer Bhaiya. That's why I used to play with him every time. That evening also, I went to the field behind the garden to play with him.

Rajveer Bhaiya said, "Kundan?" "Yes, Rajveer Bhaiya?" "Did you discuss it at home?" "Discuss what?"

"About Master Ji.

"Did anyone say that they learned music from him?"

"Yes, I inquired. My aunt learned from him." "Did you inquire of her where Master Ji vanished suddenly?"

"Yes, I did, but…"

"She doesn't know either. Nobody knows where he went."

"Alright. Did your aunt say anything else to you?"

"No, nothing more."

"Okay, let it be."

I was aware Rajveer Bhaiya was equally as puzzled about Master Ji's disappearance as I was. But I had no idea how to inform him of grandmother's letters that spoke of Master Ji. Standing lost in thought, I saw Rajveer Bhaiya gazing intensely in the direction of the garden.

"Rajveer Bhaiya, what are you gazing at in the garden?"

"Nothing, thinking."

"Do you think the garden is involved in Master Ji's disappearance?"

"I do. Since Master Ji went missing, there have been strange noises in this garden."

As Rajveer Bhaiya and I talked about Master Ji, my grandmother may have already gone to the garden, leaving my mother and aunt behind at home.

"Sister, did you see Mom?" "I think she left a little while back." "Out? Again? Do you know where she goes?" "She goes to the garden every evening."

"The garden? Why on earth would she do that?"

"She says she talks to Dad there."

"The garden is hazardous!" "I know. It's not the garden alone, though—the tree there is also hazardous. Terrible things have occurred there."

"Make her return. I will speak to her." "Seems she's here now."

"Oh, so you all still linger around here?"

"Yes. Ah, Ma'am, if I may inquire—where's Mom? How did she abandon her daughters this day?"

"And you are?"

"I am the leader of this village. Cut the questions and prepare to leave."

"What do you mean? Who are you?"

"Did I not say it in my first voice? Stop interrogating me. If you don't shape up, I'll drag you out." "But why would we be kicked out? This is our home!"

"This was never your home. This village is mine now. It would be preferable if you left."

Have you gone mad? What sort of thing is this to do?

We're not going away either from our village or our house."

"Go ahead and stay and see what you get. You saw what became of the last fellow who disobeyed me."

"Mind your mouth!" "Stop it! I didn't come here to converse. Pack up and go. If you don't, you'll be sorry.

The man kept frightening them, but they did not move; they were not going anywhere. In spite of all this tension, Rajveer Bhaiya stepped in and sorted out the situation for the time being. He then returned home, and my aunt went back to her room. My mother and I waited for my grandmother to come back.

"Mom, where were you?" "Just out for a walk."

"Out? Until this late? Annu was telling you to go to the garden." "Yes, why?" "But the garden is risky!"

The story goes on with mystery, suggesting the existence of a man called John Matthew and the evil influence that pervades the garden and the village. It's revealed that there are strange happenings connected to both the garden and my grandmother's behavior, especially her visits to it. The introduction of letters, penned to my deceased grandfather, and the disappearance of Master Ji add to the suspense.
