"Another failure…"
Liam exhaled heavily as he sat in the middle of his cluttered workshop, surrounded by half-finished blueprints and scraps of wood. His fingers were stained with ink and graphite, but no amount of effort could change the truth.
🔹 [Skill: Basic Architecture – Rank F]
A notification window flickered in front of him, taunting him with its mediocrity. It had been the same result every time he tried something new. No matter how hard he worked, how intricate his designs were, or how much effort he poured into his craft, it never amounted to anything useful.
While others awakened as Blademasters, Elemental Sorcerers, or even Battle Monks, Liam was stuck with a class so pathetic that even commoners laughed at him. What use was an Architect in a world ruled by monsters and warriors?
A loud crash echoed from outside, followed by the sound of screaming.
"Monsters! The barrier is failing!"
Panic set in immediately. The town of Ravenshade was supposed to be protected by a magical barrier, but if it was failing… that meant the city was about to be overrun.
Liam stumbled to his feet and rushed outside. The sight that met him was pure chaos.
👁️ A horde of twisted, insect-like creatures, their exoskeletons shimmering with unnatural colors, skittered into the city streets. Their razor-sharp mandibles dripped with venom as they tore through the guards like paper.
Shouts of "Fall back!", "Protect the civilians!", and "We need reinforcements!" filled the air, but it was clear—they were losing.
Liam took a step back, heart pounding. What do I do? I have no combat skills. I can't fight. I…
He looked down at his hands, at the calloused fingers that had spent years designing structures, bridges, and cities. If I can't fight… maybe I can build.
A single desperate thought crossed his mind.
🔹 [Skill Activated: Rapid Construction – Rank F]
Liam raised his hand, and a crude wooden barricade rose from the ground. It was weak, barely sturdy enough to block the smaller monsters, but it worked.
For the first time, his skills had done something.
But it wasn't enough.
He needed more.
He needed power.
And then… he saw it.
Amidst the ruins of an old cathedral, something called to him.
A brush.
It looked useless, just an old, worn-out painting tool covered in dust. But as Liam reached out to touch it, the world changed.
🔹 [Hidden Quest Activated: The Lost Tool of Creation]
A system message he had never seen before flashed before his eyes.
His fate was about to change forever.
