Chapter 3

Not only Xavion, but all members of the Winters family directed their anger and hatred towards me.

During this time, Xavion met a stripper at a bar and began keeping a mistress.

Sparks flew, and the two became inseparable...

He gleefully crafted golden cages for one mistress after another, ensnaring these young, beautiful women in a glamorous lifestyle. Once he grew bored, he'd push me out to deal with those who, despite receiving hefty severance packages, remained obsessively clingy.

As for me, I could only watch as I drifted further and further away from my former love, while simultaneously sinking deeper into the Winters family quagmire, losing four children in succession due to my guilt-ridden struggles.

And now.

"Serenity, as a doctor, there's something I must tell you. Typically, women are advised not to conceive for two years after a miscarriage. However, you've had four miscarriages in five years, which has caused significant damage to your body and uterus. In the future... you may find it very difficult to conceive again."

The doctor's words were gentle, but I clearly understood their meaning.I nodded calmly, without saying a word.

"Do we need to inform Mr. Winters about this?"

This is a private hospital under the Winters family's enterprise. Although I'm not on good terms with the Winters family or Xavion, it's not something to air in front of outsiders.

Everyone only knows that I, Mrs. Winters, am not favored by my in-laws or husband, but I'm still shown the respect I'm due.

I smiled bitterly.

"No need to tell him."

Just as I finished speaking, Xavion's call came through.

His voice was lazy as usual, laced with thick malice.

"Are you dead yet? If not, come to the mansion. The set Vivienne and I usually use is gone, and I'm not used to others. You know which brand I prefer, right? Bring it over. I'll text you the location."

He hung up before I could respond.

The next moment, the mansion's address arrived on my phone.

In the past, I would have endured all the heartache, sorrow, or humiliation out of guilt and a desire for redemption, humbly complying with everything Xavion ordered.

All just to make him hate me a little less, even just a tiny bit less.Serenity stared blankly at her phone, her face a mask of numbness as she calmly tapped the DoorDash app to order delivery.

Her best friend set down the bowl of porridge and tucked the blanket around Serenity, her voice choked with emotion.

"Serenity, does it really have to be Xavion or no one? This is your fourth miscarriage! What more does he want? How much longer will he keep torturing you? Does he want to drain you completely before he's satisfied?"

Serenity wiped away a tear from the corner of her eye and forced a smile that wasn't too grotesque in an attempt to comfort her friend, who had been sniffling since she walked in.

"Don't worry. From now on, he can't do anything to me anymore."

Because I didn't personally go to the mansion to deliver the condoms, Xavion got angry.

He canceled my credit cards and had the doctor kick me out of the hospital.

After packing my things and leaving the hospital, I made a trip back to the Winters family home.

The servants at the Winters estate saw me and all wore expressions of contempt.

"Look, the jinx is back again. Check out her stomach - it's flat again. What a joke!"

"Yeah, seriously. How many times has this been now?Every time she can't give birth, she still has the nerve to come around here. If it were me, I'd hide away at my parents' house and never show my face again."

"That's why we're just the help and she's the lady of a wealthy family. We don't have her thick skin, do we?"

I calmly walked through the front hall. By now, I'd become numb to comments like these.

My timing couldn't have been worse. Xavion had also brought Vivienne to see Mrs. Prescott.
