Chapter 10 – The Chains of Heaven
The world trembled.
From the heavens, golden chains surged forth, weaving through the sky like living serpents, each link inscribed with divine laws—unyielding, absolute, eternal. They were not mere weapons. They were decrees of the cosmos itself, forged to bind those who defied fate.
Gu Tianxian stood amidst the wreckage, his crimson eyes reflecting the spiraling celestial light above him. His smirk did not waver. If anything, the sight of the chains—the will of heaven given form—only deepened his amusement.
"Finally," he murmured, stretching his fingers. "They're taking me seriously."
The system chimed.
[Divine Chains of Erasure detected.]
[These chains cannot be broken. They cannot be dodged. They cannot be resisted.]
[System analyzing loopholes…]
He exhaled sharply. "Can't be dodged? Can't be resisted?" His smirk sharpened. "Then I'll just change the rules."
The first chain struck.
The air split apart as it descended—faster than thought, heavier than mountains, deadlier than time itself. It wrapped around Gu Tianxian's wrist, the divine law inscribed upon it surging to erase his existence from the mortal plane.
A mortal being—even an immortal one—would have been reduced to dust in an instant.
But Gu Tianxian was neither.
The moment the chain touched him, his body blurred, twisting as if reality itself refused to hold him still.
A flicker. A shadow. A distortion.
And then—
The chain coiled around empty air.
The enforcers' eyes widened in shock. "He... slipped through fate itself?!"
Gu Tianxian reappeared above them, standing in midair, his expression unreadable. "Your problem," he said lazily, "is that you believe in absolutes."
His hand moved.
A dagger formed from nothingness—an anti-divine weapon, forged not through celestial law, but through defiance itself.
The system's whisper filled his mind.
[Unique Skill Activated: Heaven's Flaw]
[Effect: The stronger the fate, the greater the weakness.]
The second chain came. This one aimed for his soul, its golden links shimmering with the very essence of karma—the unbreakable law that bound all living things to the cycle of existence.
Gu Tianxian met it with a single stroke.
His dagger cut through the chain.
Not shattered. Not resisted. Not evaded.
Cut.
For the first time in countless eons, a celestial law was broken.
The enforcers reeled in horror. The Lord of Fate's hands trembled upon his throne.
This was not supposed to happen.
This was impossible.
And yet, as Gu Tianxian landed softly upon the ruined battlefield, he only exhaled, rolling his shoulders. "Two down."
His crimson eyes turned skyward.
"Who's next?"
