Chapter 25 – The Breaking Point

D'Karr's Fortress – Experiment Chamber

Pain.

Heat.

A throbbing pulse deep inside his chest.

Rei gasped as something ancient stirred within him, pushing against the walls of his mind.

The combat drones closed in on Seyra.

D'Karr's mechanical eye whirred, tracking her movements.

But his focus snapped back to Rei when a warning flashed across his holo-display.

⚠ Energy Spike Detected

The restraints around Rei's wrists trembled.

The metal groaned, resisting.

Then—cracks formed.

D'Karr's lips curled into a fascinated grin.

"Yes… yes! That's it!"

He leaned forward, eyes gleaming with obsession.

"You're finally reacting, aren't you?"

Seyra gritted her teeth as she deflected another plasma shot.

The drones were fast—too many, too coordinated.

She spun, narrowly avoiding a strike from behind.

Her spear lashed out, slicing through a drone's core in a burst of sparks.

But more kept coming.

Too many.

And she had no time.

Her eyes darted to Rei.

He was shaking.

Something was happening to him.

Rei… you better wake up fast.

Because she wouldn't last forever.

The Awakening

Rei's breath hitched.

Heat coiled inside him—burning, expanding.

The crystal embedded in his chest pulsed, reacting to the danger.

To Seyra's danger.

The restraints cracked further.

The energy inside him snapped.

Rei's eyes widened as he felt it surge—

And then—

BOOM.

A pulse of raw, celestial energy exploded outward.

The entire chamber shook.

The drones froze, their systems overloaded by the sheer force of the energy wave.

Seyra shielded her eyes, feeling the shockwave press against her.

When she looked again—

Rei was standing.

The restraints were gone—vaporized.

D'Karr's expression shifted.

For the first time, his excitement flickered with something else.

A hint of… unease.

Because Rei wasn't the same anymore.

His stance was steady.

His eyes burned with an unnatural silver glow.

Energy hummed around him, warping the air itself.

The raw force of it sent cracks splintering across the walls.

D'Karr licked his lips.

"Magnificent."

Then, he raised a command.

"Deploy the Titan-Class Suppressor."

The fight wasn't over.

Not yet.

From the shadows, the unseen agent watched it all unfold.

He had been prepared to intervene.

To step in if Rei's life was in true danger.

But now?

A smirk tugged at his lips.

Because Rei had just proven something.

He's awakened.

The real test was about to begin.

And for now—

The agent would let it happen.
