POV: Kang Ji-ah (FL)
I should have known it was too good to last.
From the moment our parents discovered that Ahn Jae-hyun and I were actually in love, everything changed.
For them, this marriage was supposed to be a strategic move, a way to strengthen ties between our families. They never expected us to actually care about each other.
So, when they realized the truth, their next move was something I never saw coming.
They planned our divorce.

The Divorce Papers
Jae-hyun and I sat in the study room of our penthouse, staring at the thick envelope on the table.
Inside were the documents that would legally end our marriage.
A marriage that, to everyone else, had always been a contract.
To our parents, this was undoing a business mistake. To the world, it was two people fulfilling their contractual obligations before moving on.
But for us?
It was tearing apart something real.
Jae-hyun leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable.
"They didn't even ask us," he muttered, his voice sharp with frustration. "They just assumed this is what we wanted."
I clenched my fists. "Because to them, we were never supposed to want this in the first place."
Silence.
I glanced at him. "So, what do we do?"
He exhaled slowly, then smirked. "We do what we do best."
I raised an eyebrow.
"We play along."

The Act Begins
For the next few weeks, we put on a show.
We staged arguments in front of our families. We spent less time together at public events. The media caught glimpses of Jae-hyun leaving our shared home late at night, and I was seen attending meetings alone.
Everything was perfectly orchestrated.
And yet, behind closed doors…
We were anything but distant.

The Night We Almost Let Go
One evening, as we stood on our balcony overlooking Seoul's city lights, I turned to Jae-hyun.
"What if they force us to go through with it?" I whispered.
He was quiet for a moment, then he looked at me, his gaze unwavering.
"Then I'll marry you again."
My breath hitched.
"I don't care how many times they separate us," he said softly. "I'll always find my way back to you."
Something in my chest tightened.
I had spent years protecting him, standing in the shadows as his bodyguard, believing that love had no place in my world.
But here he was, proving me wrong.

The Divorce That Never Happened
The day we were supposed to sign the papers, our families gathered in my father's office.
The tension in the room was suffocating.
My father placed a pen in front of me. "Ji-ah, sign."
Jae-hyun's father did the same, pushing the papers toward him. "Jae-hyun, this marriage has served its purpose. There's no need to continue this farce."
I glanced at Jae-hyun.
He met my gaze.
And in that moment, I knew.
We weren't going to let them dictate our lives anymore.
Jae-hyun smirked, picked up the divorce papers… and ripped them in half.
Gasps echoed through the room.
"What the hell are you doing?!" my father shouted.
Jae-hyun stood, slipping his hand into mine before turning to our stunned families.
"You thought this marriage was a contract," he said, his voice calm but firm. "But to us, it never was."
I squeezed his hand, lifting my chin. "We're staying together. Whether you approve or not."
Silence.
Then, Jae-hyun pulled me closer, his voice dropping just for me to hear.
"See? Told you I'd marry you again if I had to."
I smiled.
Because I knew—we had won.
